  12. 1.  Installing the Microsoft Certified Professional Assessment Exams
  13. ------------------------------------------------------------- 
  14. To install the Assessment Exams on a hard disk using the 
  15. included Setup program:
  16.  
  17.     a.  Load Windows 3.1 or higher 
  18.         
  19.     b.  Insure that you can access the disk or drive 
  20.         containing the Microsoft Certified Professional
  21.         Assessment Exams program and exam files.
  22.  
  23.     c.  Run SETUP.EXE from Program Manager, File Manager or 
  24.         the Windows 95 start menu. SETUP.EXE will create a 
  25.         directory and copy the necessary files to your disk 
  26.         and create a Program Manager group.
  27.  
  28.     d.  Once SETUP.EXE has completed, you may execute the 
  29.             assessment program by clicking on the Assessment 
  30.         Exams Program Item, or by running the LNCHTST.EXE 
  31.         program from the File Manager, Program Manager or
  32.         Windows 95 Explorer.

  34.         Do not directly execute the WTDP.EXE program.

  37. 2.  Using the Assessment Exams
  38. ------------------------------------------------------------
  39. To become a Microsoft Certified Professional you must pass a 
  40. series of standardized exams which reflect your knowledge 
  41. and skill in planning, implementing, and supporting 
  42. solutions with Microsoft products.  The Microsoft 
  43. Certified Professional Assessment Exams are designed to help you 
  44. evaluate your knowledge and skills prior to taking the 
  45. actual certification exams.  Version 4.1 of the Assessment 
  46. Exams contains 26 assessment exams:

  80. These assessment exams will also give you practice answering 
  81. questions of a format similar to those on the actual exams.  
  82. Because these assessment exams cover many of the concepts 
  83. you are required to know for certification, the higher you 
  84. score on a specific assessment exam, the closer you may be 
  85. to passing the actual certification exam.  However, these 
  86. exams do not serve as actual certification exams, nor does 
  87. performance on these exams guarantee or directly correlate 
  88. to the success you may have on the actual certification 
  89. exams.

  91.     Setting Your Name
  92.     ------------------------------------------------------
  93.     To set your name on an exam, click the Options button 
  94.     on the Select a Test window.  This will bring up a 
  95.     dialog box that will allow you to enter your first and 
  96.     last name.  When you start an exam, your name will 
  97.     appear in the test introduction and on any score 
  98.     reports.

  100.     Starting An Exam
  101.     ------------------------------------------------------
  102.     To take an assessment exam, click on one of the exam 
  103.     titles in the Select a Test window.  Text describing 
  104.     the specific exam will appear in the Description 
  105.     window.  To start the exam, click the Start Test 
  106.     button.
  107.  
  108.     There is no time limit on the assessment exams.  And, 
  109.     you may repeat the assessment exams as often as you 
  110.     wish.

  112.     On-line help is always available by clicking the Help 
  113.     button or pressing F1.  
  114.  
  115.     Answering Questions
  116.     ------------------------------------------------------
  117.     Specific instructions are provided for answering each 
  118.     question.  Read the on-screen prompts before 
  119.     answering a question, to be sure that you understand 
  120.     what is expected.  
  121.  
  122.     If you answer a question incorrectly, you will be 
  123.     given feedback indicating the correct answer.  You 
  124.     will be allowed to review previous questions and to 
  125.     mark those you wish to review later, but you cannot 
  126.     change your answer to a question after proceeding to 
  127.     the next question.  (You may repeat the exam if you 
  128.     wish.)

  130.     Scoring
  131.     ------------------------------------------------------
  132.     After you end the exam, your score will be 
  133.     automatically displayed.  You can also check your 
  134.     scores on each exam using the Scores button in the 
  135.     Select a Test window.  A record is kept of all the 
  136.     scores for the exams you have taken.
  137.  
  138.     The assessment exams are not scored as pass or fail.  
  139.     The score given for each assessment exam enables you 
  140.     to evaluate your knowledge and determine if additional 
  141.     study may be of benefit.
