SRU96 - Server Registration Utility v1.0 Information.
Copyright (C) 1996, Nick Slay, all rights reserved)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What is SRU96?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
SRU96 is a program to aid in the registration of business servers
within a three-tier client/server development environment.
SRU96 provides a wizard function to register .exe, .dll and .vbr type
servers. Classes can be easily changed from remote to local execution
and a test function is available to ensure that they are registered
correctly. Changing a server from remote to local execution, or vice
versa, is as simple as checking or unchecking an option box.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What do I need to run SRU96?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You must be running Microsoft Windows 95. SRU96 is a 32-bit Windows 95
program and will not run under Windows 3.x. SRU96 is a Visual Basic 4
program and will need runtime files in order to run correctly. To keep
download times to a minimum I have created two versions of the program.
SRU96.ZIP - Without runtime files.
SRU96F.ZIP - With runtime files.
NOTE: If you do not have Visual Basic 4.0 installed then you will
probably need to download the runtime files in order for SRU96 to run.
Download the files from http://www.ozemail.com.au/~nickslay
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do I install SRU96?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Extract the files to a temporary directory and Run the Setup program
provided. Alternately, rush out and get a copy of Winzip 6.1 which
will automatically unzip and run the setup program for you. (Commission?)
Setup will ask you where to install SRU96 to, the default is
C:\Program Files\Server Registration. After selecting the directory,
it will then copy the files to that directory and create an icon on
your Start Menu.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why should I use SRU96?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you work in an environment that is developing three-tier client/server
systems then you will need to register your business servers to run on
remote machines.
SRU96 provides a simple way to register your servers to run either
remotely or locally, to test that they have been configured correctly
and to change their properties (i.e. the machine, on the network, that
the server will run on).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
SRU96 Features:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Wizard to register servers from .exe files. Future versions should
be able to register servers from .dll and .vbr files, as well as
being able to display classes within the server.
2. Test option to ensure that the classes have been registered correctly
3. Simple option to change the class to remote or local execution
4. Easily change the network machine that the classes are run on
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do I Uninstall SRU96?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
From the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel, select SRU96 and click
Add/Remove. SRU96 should then be automatically uninstalled
----------------------------------------------------------------------
