  6. This document contains important information that is not included in 
  7. HyperGuide or in online Help. 
  8.  
  9.  
  10. Using Notepad to View This Document
  11.  
  12. If you enlarge the Notepad Window to its maximum size, this document 
  13. will be easier to read. To do so, click the Maximize button in the 
  14. upper-right corner of the window. Or open the Control menu in the 
  15. upper-left corner of the Notepad window (press ALT+SPACEBAR), and 
  16. then choose the Maximize command.
  17.  
  18. To move through the document, press PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN or click the 
  19. arrows at the top and bottom of the scroll bar along the right side 
  20. of the Notepad window.
  21.  
  22. To print the document, choose the Print command from the File menu.
  23.  
  24. For Help on using Notepad, press F1.

  27. Drivers and Microsoft Multimedia Pack 1.0
  28. =========================================

  30. Accompanying the Microsoft (R) Multimedia Pack version 1.0 product are
  31. certain display and audio driver software programs created by the
  32. manufacturers of such hardware. Please note that these third-party driver
  33. programs are not part of the Microsoft (R) Multimedia Pack product.
  34. Microsoft makes no warranties or claims regarding the quality, stability or
  35. performance characteristics of the driver programs, which are included AS
  36. IS WITHOUT WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE WARRANTY OF MERCHANTIBILITY. The 
  37. included driver programs are the latest releases available to Microsoft, 
  38. and are included for your convenience only. Should you experience any 
  39. difficulties with the driver programs, please contact the
  40. manufacturer of the display or audio device you are using with your
  41. computer system to inquire about obtaining a more recent version.

  43. The \DRIVERS directory of the Multimedia Pack CD-ROM contains the
  44. latest releases of device drivers for the following laserdisc player 
  45. and audio cards:

  60. Note: If you experience problems using the Media Vision audio drivers, you 
  61. should contact their technical support department at 1-800-638-2807 to get
  62. an updated driver.

  65. To install a driver for an audio device or for the laserdisc player:

  68.     1. Insert the Multimedia Pack CD-ROM in the appropriate disc 
  69.        drive.
  70.  
  71.     2. From the Control Panel, select the Drivers icon.
  72.  
  73.     3. Choose Add.
  74.        The Add dialog box appears.
  75.  
  76.     4. From the list of driver choices, select "Unlisted or 
  77.        Updated Driver."
  78.  
  79.     5. Choose OK.
  80.        The Install Driver dialog box appears.
  81.  
  82.     6. Identify the CD-ROM drive containing Multimedia Pack disc.
  83.  
  84.     7. Choose OK.
  85.        The Add Unlisted or Updated Drivers dialog box appears.
  86.  
  87.     8. Select the driver you want to install.
  88.     
  89.     9. Choose OK.

  91.     10. If your driver requires additional configuration information, 
  92.         choose the appropriate settings.
  93.  
  94.     11. Choose OK.  You'll also need to restart Windows to use the 
  95.         newly-installed driver.

  97. The Multimedia Pack CD-ROM also contains the following display drivers:

  100.     S3 640x480 32K colors
  101.     VGA 320x200 256 colors
  102.     VGA 640x480 16 shades of gray
  103.     VGA 640x480 16 palettized colors

  105. To install a display driver:
  106. ----------------------------

  108.     1. Start the Windows Setup application.
  109.  
  110.     2. From the Options menu, choose the Change System Settings
  111.        command. The Change System Settings dialog box appears.
  112.  
  113.     3. From the list of displays, select "Other display (requires 
  114.        disk from OEM)."
  115.  
  116.     4. Identify the CD-ROM drive containing Multimedia Pack disc.
  117.  
  118.     5. Choose OK.
  119.        The list of display drivers appears.
  120.  
  121.     6. Select the driver you want to install.
  122.  
  123.     7. Choose OK.
  124.  
  125.     8. Choose OK again.    
  126.  
  127.     9. Follow any additional instructions from the Setup application.

  129. The device-independent portion of the Microsoft CD-ROM Extensions
  130. (MSCDEX.EXE) is also included in the \DRIVERS directory of the
  131. Multimedia Pack. If the version of MSCDEX.EXE you are using is less than
  132. 2.11, replace this file on your multimedia PC with the version on the
  133. Multimedia Pack CD-ROM.
