  1. This disc is quite unique in that it is designed to work on both Apple Macintosh and IBM Personal Computer compatible machines.  With that said, there are unfortunate instances where certain applications designed for both platforms only work under one operating system.  Please keep in mind that we are aware of these so-called "bugs",  and that future discs will be void of such frustration.  However, we believe that these discs will add to the quality of Next Generation, and serve as a catalyst for future, more impressive projects.

  4. Please note the following known difficulties for Next Generation Disc Edition 1:

  6. Q:  "I can't see any movies."
  7. A:  You must have Apple QuickTime installed on your computer to view the Preview movies.  Apple QuickTime is provided in the Setup folder at startup.

  9. Q:  "The sound capability on the Personal Computer side of the disc is somewhat temperamental."  
  10. A:  Try resetting the sound slider below the Next Generation logo when viewing a movie without sound.  If using Microsoft Windows95, check your audio settings if you do not encounter sound when viewing QuickTime movies.

  12. Q:  "The rotating Next Generation logo really slowed down my DX2/66 PC compatible."  
  13. A:  Yes, we know better now, and we're sorry; the logo will not reappear.  We're implementing new graphics for future revisions.

  15. Q:  "How do I get back to the Previews screen?  (Or any screen for that matter?)"
  16. A:  Use the Title Bar (located at the top of the screen) to navigate backward from any location.  The Title Bar acts as a reverse button, and also indicates where you are on the disc.

  62. After running the installer, simply connect to your Internet Service Provider and double-click on the executable icon.  Once launched select OPEN CONNECTION from the FILE menu in the menu bar.
  63. In the HOSTNAME field of the resulting dialog box enter: www.next-generation.com  Leave the contents of all other fields as the defaults and click on the CONNECT button.  You should then be connected via TCP/IP to the Next Generation Palace.

You should find yourself in the Next Generation  Welcome Room.  There are a variety of rooms in The Palace where different gaming topics are discussed.  There are scheduled conferences with industry figures and the Next Generation editorial staff.  Be sure to check Next Generation Online frequently for the schedule of events.
