VERY IMPORTANT -- READ THIS FIRST
Because this is a Beta there still may be a few rough edges
to the TEN product. That's why you're here -- to help us find bugs and
smooth them out.
The latest TEN software, game software and/or patches can be found on TEN's
FTP site at: ftp.ten.net/TEN
WARCRAFT
You must use the version of Warcraft that is on the TEN ftp site at:
ftp.ten.net/TEN/games/warcraft.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
1.3 WARCRAFT
-Pentium 60mHz (You can try running with a 486, but we don't
guarantee that it will work properly.)
-8MB RAM (16MB reccommended)
-Windows 95
-SVGA card
-14400 modem
CONNECTING TO TEN
To connect to TEN, click on the Warcraft TEN shortcut to launch the TEN
software. The default location for the install is in C:\PROGRAM FILES\TEN.
You can also launch the shortcut from the START menu by picking
PROGRAMS/TEN..
After the program is launched you should see a sign on screen for your
Screen Name and Password. You should see the text "Your Name" in the
screen name dialog box.
Make sure that you have chosen a way to connect to TEN via the Settings
button (either through your own ISP or via a TEN access number). Enter
your Screen Name and Password. (The Password field is case-sensitive, so
be sure that CAPS Lock is off.) If you are connecting to TEN via your
own ISP, you will need to connect to your ISP first. If you are connecting
to TEN via a TEN access number, select the closest local access number and
then you just need to click on the Connect button. (Make sure that your modem
is turned on!) Oh, by the way, while there is no charge from TEN during
the beta testing, you are responsible for your own phone charges.
If you have any problems connecting to TEN, please contact our Technical
Support representatives.
Shortly after clicking on the Connect button, you will the see a Arena
Selector screen. After Mr. Bandwidth checks your connections,
you will be able to select an appropriate Arena to play in.
The New User Registration button is not active in this version of TEN.
If you don't already have a screen name from our previous beta testing
you will need to have us create one for you. Customer Service will be
glad to help you with this. (Don't worry. It'll be available in the
near future.)
USING THE TEN SERVICE
If you are having any problems using the TEN service, please click on
the icon that looks like a fire extinguisher. This will bring up the
TEN help file. Or if you can't get into the TEN interface, double click
on the help file icon that is installed in your TEN directory. The help
file should tell you all you need to know about the actual TEN interface.
BUG REPORTING
You have received a URL for the Bug Report page. Please use this whenever you
have found a bug. We would like to hear about any and all problems you may have,
but if you can reproduce the bug, so much the better. Please give us all
information that you can about what you were doing and steps to recreate. The
more thorough you are in your description of a problem, the faster we can
fix it and get an update to you.
We will periodically send you questionnaires asking you to test particular
features and report your findings. We will link these questionnaires to the
main Bug Report page as html questionnaires to make answering them convenient.

- 4. UNIT MODIFICATIONS
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Both Catapults and Summoned Creatures operate in manners dissimilar
from other units in the game:
The catapult will attack enemy units automatically ONLY if there
are no friendly units that will be effected by splash damage from the
missile. If you select the Attack command and specify a target, the
catapult will fire at the selected target regardless of friendly unit
proximity.
Summoned Creatures have a Magic Point (MP) bar as well as a
Hit Point (HP) bar. The MP bar will degrade over time, and when it is
drained, the summoned creature will begin taking damage, as the powers
that hold it here are no longer in force.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
- 5. MOVEMENT
---------------------------------------------------------------------
ATTACK VS. MOVE
When a Unit is instructed to Move, it will head to the selected location and
ignore anything that crosses it path, including units that attack it. This
allows for uninterrupted movement, as well as enforced retreats.
When a Unit is instructed to Attack, you may choose either an area to attack,
or a specific target.
When you choose an area to Attack, the unit will move there, but if he is
attacked in transit, the unit will stop and respond to the attack. When the
unit arrives at the selected location, it will look for immediate targets
within its range to attack.
When you choose a specific target to Attack, your unit will move to engage
the selected target, ignoring all other enemies or threats.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
- 6. NETWORK PLAY
---------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT NOTE: Warcraft requires the IPX network protocol.
NODE NUMBERS
The node number option in network play allows two players to find each other
when more than one game of Warcraft is starting on the network. Choose the
same node number for both players.
MESSAGES ON THE NETWORK
Messages can be sent to an opposing player in a Two-Player game by simply
pressing the Enter key. A MSG: prompt will appear at the bottom of the screen.
Type in your message, and then press Enter to send it.
SELECTING UNITS IN TWO-PLAYER CUSTOM MODE
In a Two-Player Custom game, players can either have the default setting
of two Peons/Peasants or they can elect to create custom armies through
the Select Armies dialog. Not only can you affect what units you are
choosing for your side, but you may select or deselect units for the
enemy side by using the mouse to click the arrow keys in the Unit Selection
area. If you wish to negate the ability to create specific units, they
may be turned OFF in the same manner, making them unavailable for play.
SELECTING UNITS IN ONE-PLAYER CUSTOM MODE
In one player custom mode, you may choose to change the number of
units you start with in your fight against the computer player. The
computer player's units are fixed and cannot be altered.
