<p>You can export account information from Money to use in other software programs. When you export, you do not remove the account from your current file<mdash/>you just make a copy of it to use elsewhere.</p>

<li>On the <emph>File</emph> menu, click <emph>Export</emph>.</li>
<li>Choose a QIF format for your exported account:</li>
<ul>
<li><emph>Loose QIF.</emph> The full names of Money categories and other names will be exported. If you use classifications, both classifications 1 and 2 will be exported. Applications other than Money may not be able to read this format.</li>
<li><emph>Strict QIF.</emph> Only the first 15 characters of category names and other names will be exported, and only classification 1 will be exported. This format is compatible with all applications that read QIF files.</li>

<li>Click <emph>OK</emph>.</li>
<li>In the <emph>Save in</emph> box, click the destination directory for the exported account.</li>
<li>In the <emph>File name</emph> box, type a name for the file you will save this account in, and then click <emph>OK</emph>. </li>
<p>You can only export a single account from your Money file at a time.</p>
<p>It's a good idea to identify the exported file with its name in your Money file (for example, "Household Checking.qif").</p>
<li>Choose whether you're exporting an investment account or a noninvestment (regular) account, and then click <emph>OK</emph>.</li>
<li>Click the account you want to export, and then click <emph>Continue</emph>.</li>
<li>Money displays a message when the export is complete. Click <emph>OK</emph>.</li>

<p variant="impt">When you export an account, some information is not included, such as abbreviations, comments, and Lifetime Planner information.</p>
