<p>Since many European countries will be replacing their national currencies with euros, you may eventually want to convert your entire Money file to euros. There are several factors to consider before converting:</p>
<p>Important dates to remember:</p>
<ul>
<li><emph>By Fall 2001.</emph> Financial institutions begin sending out account statements in euros.</li>
<li><emph>January 1, 2002.</emph> Euro banknotes and coins in circulation.</li>
<li><emph>February 28, 2002.</emph> National banknotes and coins withdrawn from circulation.</li>
</ul>
<p>When you receive your first statement in euros for each account you have set up in Money, go to each account's account details page and click <emph>Show running balance in euros</emph>. Then reconcile your account to your new statement for each account. You may have to adjust them so they match.</p>
<p>You can use the Microsoft Money Euro Converter when you are ready to convert the base currency of your Money file to euros. Following the conversion, your budget and planners will appear in euros, and the default currency for any new accounts you set up in your converted Money file will be the euro. Before converting, make sure that you are receiving your bank statements in euros. And if you have not already done so, go to each of your accounts' details pages, and click <emph>Show running balance in euros</emph>.</p>
<p><emph>Note</emph> If you need to use both euros and a euro member currency (such as French francs) in one Money account, that account must be in the European Union member currency. Whereas transactions in euros can be entered into an EU member currency account, transactions in an EU member currency cannot be entered into a euro account.</p>
