This package is based on Infocom Task Force Interpreter, the
sources for which are available by FTP from remus.rutgers.edu and
ftp.cse.unsw.edu.au in the /pub/infocom directory, or from the
interactive-fiction archive at ftp.gmd.de.
In addition, thanks must go to (in no particular order)
Formal Systems (Europe) Limited, who made it possible to port the
interpreter to the Psion by letting me use company compilers and
equipment "out of hours."
Acorn and Aleph1 whose excellent PC emulation products has allowed
the bulk of the work on the Psion version to be carried out on an
Acorn Archimedes, under software and later hardware emulation.
All the registered users who have helped to keep the Psion version
in development and found some of the more obscure bugs, like the
Lurking Horror login and the German exit problem.
Dominic Symes, whose incredible !Zap made editing the C source
code much easier and faster.
Paul Gardiner, for a lightweight wimp library which made it
possible to get early ports to the Acorn running much more
quickly.
Jason Williams for DeskLib 2.03/2.04 which made it possible to
polish up the interface without driving Paul to distraction with
feature requests.
Mark Moxon, who allowed me to check compatibility with the Acorn
Pocketbook.
Graham Nelson, whose manual for Inform release 4 contains much
useful background information on infocom interpreters and helped
illuminate many corners of the original ITF sources. Similarly,
Curses was useful both as another test file and as a fiendish
distraction. Graham also pointed out some of the more serious
screen update glitches.
Mark Howell, whose alternative portable interpreter Zip inspired
many of the fixes to the bizarre screen handling of the ITF
interpeter.
Steve Lichfield, for his excellent work with 3Lib and inspiring
the registration mechanism with Fairway.
Beta-testers for 1.6, Robin Watts and Roger Burton-West. Robin's
requests (since about release 0.1) have a lot to do with the this
interpreter running on both platforms with so many bells and
whistles. Roger helped point out many places where I was
violating unwritten rules for Psion applications.
Andrew McMurry helped catch an embarassing problem with the option
processing on the DEC Alpha with the 1.7 beta-release.
Finally, thanks must also go to the numerous other members of the
Oxford Archimedes User Group who first persuaded me to track down
the ITF sources and suffered through my very early Acorn ports,
beta-tested my early ports at every opportunity and finally
complained enough about the existing interpreters to persuade me
to port back to the Acorn.
