  8. iSpeed is a utility that will help to optimize your networking
  9. connections - both ethernet and modem (dialup networking). It does
  10. this by manipulating the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU), Maximum 
  11. Segment Size (MSS), Receive Window (RWIN), Time To Live (TTL), MTU
  12. Auto Discovert, and Black Hole detection. These items are relatively
  13. undocumented by Microsoft, and fine tuning them can have a dramatic
  14. effect on your throughput (both positive and negative).

  17. our web site (URL is above) to view the online FAQ. While we do
  18. appreciate your comments (and do encourage them), we have a limited
  19. amount of time for supporting iSpeed as a freeware product, and do
  20. wish to continue development on other projects (such as SpamEater
  21. and sMail). However, if you do have a problem that is not answered
  22. in the help file or online FAQ, please don't hesitate to send email
  23. to support@hms.com with as detailed as possible explanation of the
  24. problem you are having, and if possible, the steps necessary to 
  25. take to reproduce the problem. Please provide the exact wording of
  26. any error messages you might be seeing. You cooperation and patience
  27. is greatly appreciated.

  29. Use this program at your own risk. High Mountain Software will not
  30. be liable for any damage done. That said, this program is safe to
  31. use and you can easily reset everything to the defaults as provided
  32. by Microsoft. Note too, that anytime you make changes to the registry,
  33. you run the risk of making your system unbootable. It is always wise
  34. to make sure your Emergency Recovery Disk is up to date, and to backup
  35. your registry files before making any changes to your registry. Please
  36. see your system documentation for information regarding the making of
  37. an emergency disk and backing up your registry files.
