  9. Internet Sidekick.  Please read the entire document. You may also
  10. want to print it for future reference.

  26. 1. INSTALLATION 
  27. ===============

  29. Please note the following information about installing:
  30.  
  31. *  To use Internet Sidekick, you must be running Windows 95 or 
  32.    Windows NT 4.0.
  33.  
  34. *  Be sure to close Sidekick 95 and its Quick Menu before installing
  35.    Internet Sidekick. To remove the Quick Menu, choose the Remove
  36.    command from its menu.
  37.    
  38. *  CORRECTION to the procedure given on pages 8-9 of the User's Guide.  
  39.    Installation should begin automatically when you insert the CD-ROM 
  40.    disk in your drive.  If it does not, the procedure tells you how 
  41.    to start the Setup program.  The following is a corrected 
  42.    version of Step 5 of that procedure:

  44.    5. At the "Install Program from Floppy Disk or CD-ROM" screen, click Next.  
  45.    Use the Browse button to locate the program SETUP.EXE, which is in the 
  46.    DISK1 folder on the CD-ROM.  Click SETUP.EXE and click Open to begin 
  47.    installing.

  123. 3. UNIMODEM V

  126. Some telephony features, such as Caller ID, require use of
  127. Microsoft's Unimodem V driver. 
  128.  
  129. You can download the Unimodem V driver from the Starfish Software
  130. Web site, at http://www.starfishsoftware.com/cool/cool.html.
  131. (Note that the manual erroneously states that the Unimodem V
  132. driver is included with the product.)

  134. The latest version of the Unimodem V driver is available at the
  135. Microsoft Web site,

  138. Note: If you do not have a voice modem compatible with Unimodem V, do
  139. not install the Unimodem V driver. See your modem documentation, or
  140. contact the manufacturer, to see if it supports Unimodem V.

  144. 4. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  145. =============================

  147. Q1: Can Internet Sidekick be installed to a network directory?
  148. A1: No. Install will give you an error message when you do so. In
  149.     addition, you should not use your data files if they are stored on
  150.     a network directory that does not support long filenames.
  151.  
  152. Q2: I use Microsoft Exchange Inbox for my e-mail. However, after 
  153.     installing other MAPI-compliant software, I could not use 
  154.     Exchange for Internet Sidekick's scheduling features. What could
  155.     the problem be?
  156. A2: This may be due to the fact that some MAPI-compliant
  157.     applications, like Eudora Pro 2.2, replace the original Microsoft
  158.     MAPI DLLs with their own customized versions. See the Eudora Pro
  159.     documentation, or visit the Qualcomm Web site, for configuration
  160.     details.

  162. Q3: Can I import Lotus Organizer 96 address book information?
  163. A3: No, Organizer 96 and Organizer 97 formats are not supported in this 
  164.     release.
  165.  
  166. Q4: I did not hear the alarm go off for an appointment that had an alarm.
  167. A4: To hear alarms, you must be sure that Internet Sidekick is running and 
  168.     the Calendar has been loaded. The best way to be sure the Calendar is 
  169.     available is to set Calendar as your default view. Choose Tools| 
  170.     Preferences|General, and select Calendar as the Default Deskpad View. 
  171.  
  172. Q5: The e-mail addresses in my Cardfile are not being recognized for group 
  173.     event scheduling.  Why not?
  174. A5: Specific key words must appear in the field names for the fields to be
  175.     recognized correctly.  For Internet addresses (such as jsmith@xyz.com), 
  176.     the word "Internet" must appear in the field name. Other key words are 
  177.     AOL, CompuServe, Fax, Exchange, phone. These terms can appear anywhere
  178.     in the field name. To change field names, use the Cards|Define Fields
  179.     command.

  193. 5.   The Electronic User's Guide
  194. ================================

  196. An electronic version of the User's Guide is included on the CD-ROM, in a
  197. directory called Acrobat.  The Adobe(tm) Acrobat(tm) Reader is required to 
  198. use this electronic User's Guide; the Acrobat reader is also in the Acrobat 
  199. directory.

  201. To install the Acrobat reader, double-click the file Acroread.exe in the
  202. Acrobat directory.
  203.  
  204. After installing the Acrobat reader, you will be able to double-click the 
  205. SIS-man.pdf file to read it. Instructions on how to use Adobe Acrobat are 
  206. included in the User's Guide, and in the Acrobat reader's online Help system.
