AConcept! is designed around the principle linked information, laid out in a logical order. This order is similar to a family tree.
Each Concept! file has a top level entry. This is the main thought / idea / project. This top level entry will then branch off in to varios sub-entries all linked to the top level. Each of these sub-entries will then also branch off into their own related subjects and so on.
'BEach branch has it's own screen. The current entry is shown at the bottom of the screen and all of it's sub-branches are displayed graphically on the main grid using title labels. You can also add a EPOC Picture file (.mbm) to this display.
One of the most useful features of Concept! is being able to position the title labels on the screen in a logical order, to aid the development of your idea or project.
All title labels are manipulated by simply tapping them on the screen. This wil bring up a pop up menu, giving access to the main features
cATo add a sub-branch to any of the entries in a concept! file simple tap the new entry button on the tool bar, or use the menu option.
You will be asked to give the sub-branch a name, and then postition the title label on the screen. To position the label simply tap the screen at the location you wish to place it. Use the arrow keys for more precision.
rAConcept! makes active use of the series 5 touch screen. To view details of the current entry simply tap it on the screen.
If you tap on any of the sub-branche labels you will be offered a pop up menu which will allow you to:
1) View \ Edit the sub-branch.
2) Make the sub-branch the current one.
3) Reposition the sub-branch on the screen.
4) Delete this sub-branch.
{CWhen you first open a concept! file the top level entry is the current one. You can then move down the various branches and sub-branches from their.
Please note that the current entry is the one displayed on the main bar at the bottom of the screen.
By making any of the entries sub-branches current you effectively arr moving down that particular pathway.
At any time you can move back to the current entries "mother", (ie the current entry is a sub branch of the mother entry). To do this simply tap the BACK button on the main screen. You can also move instantly to the top level entry by tapping the TOP button.
You can also jump to any branch at any time by choosing the JUMP option from the main menu or the toolbar. You will then be offered the titles of all the branches in the current file. Use the arrow keys to choose the entry you require and press ENTER to make it current.
AAs previously mentioned you can display any EPOC pisture file on the screen for any entry.
To add a picture file simply tap the PICTURE option from the toolbar (or the main menu). You will be offered a file selection box. Choose any .mbm picture file, and then tap the screen at the location you wish to place it.
At any time you can reposition the picture on the screen, or remove it by tapping the PICTURE
option from the toolbar.
Please note that only ONE
picture file can be added to each entry.
BYou can create an EPOC picture file in two main ways:
1) You can create a standard series 5 picture using the built in SKETCH application, and then exporting it as an .mbm file. To do this choose the FILE | MORE | EXPORT menu option. You will be asked to give it a name. You will then have a standard EPOC (.mbm) file.
2) You can use the BMCONV utility supplied by with PsiWin to convert a windows .bmp picture file, and then copy it over to your Psion.
You can then use these EPOC picture in your concept! file.
AConcept! allows cut and paste from any application that supports it. You can use this to paste information into any other concept! entry, or take any concept! text to another application. To do this:
1) Highlight the text you want to copy.
2) Use <CTRL C> to copy or <CTRL X> to cut in the normal Psion way.
3) Move to the application you want to paste to and press <CTRL V> to insert the text.
BConcept! is a development assistant based on a Graphical User Interface (GUI).
The use of Concept! is limited only by your imagination. Use it to plan projects, develop ideas, structure your thoughts, or even take simple notes in a logical format. Through it's use you will come to realise that Concept! is useful for a huge range of purposes.
