  1. FORTUNE V1.0 (Psion 5)

  4. "Fortune" will be familiar to anyone who has a Unix background.  It
  5. simply presents you with a random quotation (a "fortune cookie") every
  6. time you switch on your Psion.  Words of wit, wisdom, insight or just
  7. nonsense...
  8.  
  9. The program comes with a small database of some of my favourite
  10. quotations.  This is in Data format so you can edit it to reflect your
  11. own personal philosophy of life!
  12.  
  13. INSTALLATION
  14. ============

  16. 1)  From the system screen menu, ensure that "Show hidden files" and
  17. "Show 'System' folder" are both checked.  (These are under Tools-
  18. Preferences).
  19.  
  20. 2)  Make a new directory \System\Apps\Fortune.
  21.  
  22. 3)  Copy all files from the distribution except this one (readme.txt)
  23. into the new folder.
  24.  
  25. "Fortune" should now appear on the extras bar.  Select this and the
  26. 'About' screen will come up.  Close the dialogue and that's it - you
  27. will now be given a random quotation whenever your Psion is switched on.
  28. You can also receive an "ad-hoc" cookie by bringing the program to the
  29. foreground.

  31. CONFIGURATION

  34. I thoroughly expect you to configure the data file to your own
  35. preferences!  "cookie.dat" is in Data format and can be opened
  36. accordingly.  The only special field is the final one, "source".  If
  37. present, this is printed right justified with a separator above it.

  44. KNOWN BUGS & LIMITATIONS

  47. FORT0001    LOW        Uses OPL16 "POS" and "POSITION" commands, so
  48.                     will fail on an abnormally large database.
