  4. Welcome to StartUp!
  5.  
  6. StartUp is a utility to launch an unlimited number of
  7. programs and files in batch mode.
  8.  
  9. I've written this program because I make a backup of my
  10. Series 5 nearly every day. I did not understand why PsiWin
  11. 2.1 was capable to close open files before a backup but
  12. unable to reopen all of them afterwards. StartUp has been
  13. implemented as a workaround.
  14.  
  15. Use StartUp to launch your preferred set of programs and
  16. files after a backup, soft reset or whatever. You may define
  17. as many StartUp sets as you like - e.g. for business and
  18. private life.

  20. StartUp makes your EPOC machine work hard for you and it's
  21. fascinating to watch. - Enjoy!

  29. What's new?

  31. - Purple Software's PowerBase files are fully supported now. 
  32.   The bug which caused a 'not found' message in prior 
  33.   releases is fixed.

  35. - When launching StartUp the first time from the Extras bar, 
  36.   StartUp tries to create a file named 'StartUp' in the 
  37.   default folder (usually C:\Documents). In case a file or 
  38.   folder named 'StartUp' already exists StartUp does not 
  39.   raises an error anymore. Instead a file named 'StartUp(01)
  40.   ' will be created.
  41.   
  42. - The default alias name for OPL OPO files does contain the 
  43.   program name now. Example: The default alias name for a 
  44.   file named MyProg.opo is 'OPL - MyProg.opo' instead of 
  45.   simply 'OPL'.

  48. Compatibility to prior releases

  50. - This release is fully compatible to prior releases
  51.  
  52. - The StartUp file structure has not been changed
  53.  
  54. - StartUp checks the version field on opening a StartUp file
  55.   and will automatically migrate the data to the new data
  56.   structure if necessary. However, it is strongly
  57.   recommended to backup your data first, just in case...

  59. - The global preferences defined in the .ini file will be 
  60.   set to default values during the upgrade. Please use 
  61.   the appropriate functions for the necessary changes.

  107. ------------

  109. StartUp is distributed as .zip file containing the following
  110. .sis installation file:
  111.  
  112. - StartUp.sis          for EPOC Computer (e.g. Serie 5)
  113. - StartUpEmulator.sis  for EPOC Emulator R5 on a PC
  114.  
  115. To install StartUp from your 32-bit MS-Windows PC, double
  116. click on the .sis file and follow the instructions.

  118. To install StartUP from your EPOC machine or the EPOC
  119. Emulator, launch the .sis file and follow the 
  120. instructions.

  122. After the installation a new icon should appear in your
  123. extras bar.
  124.  
  125. Grap a copy of the appropriate installation program from my
  126. web site http://salvis.com/ when your PsiWin release or
  127. your EPOC machine does not support .sis files.

  129. Important: The old EPOC Emulator Release 3 is not supported 
  130. *********  anymore. Please download the new Emulator from 
  131.            http://www.epocworld.com/ - the OPL or JAVA SDK
  132.            are relatively 'small' and include a full working
  133.            Emulator. They may be downloaded for free by
  134.            EpocWorld members and the membership is free too.
  135.            The new emulator is definitely better than the
  136.            old one and is highly recommended!
