- SCIENCE QUEST 1 - THE CLASS HAS GONE!
- The Second "Educational" game from Mark S.
-
- Science Quest, like Forbidden City (available on CRS under the name
- MATHCITY.ZIP) was written to bail me out of pitifully low marks in one
- of my courses at Cawthra Park secondary school. This is the second game
- I have written for school, and it is OK. Unlike Forbidden City, there
- is no character for you to control, instead it is operated by typing in
- English sentences, like in Adventure or Wizard and the Princess. It is
- not quite as good as the Sierra games, but it is a reasonable effort,
- considering I have never done this before. Like F.C it has "educational
- value" hidden in it somewhere. I'm not sure if it's as good though.
- Anyways, unlike Forbidden City this game has real EGA graphics, not
- just ANSI characters, like it's predecessor. There is a more detailed
- story, but Science Quest is not as open - ended as F.C. And it is a bit
- too easy. Other than that, I am quite pleased with this follow - up to
- the Forbidden City of Mathematics, and I hope you will be too. If you
- like it, please remember to send $$$ to:
- Mark Sprague
- 1040 Red Pine Crescent
- Mississauga, Ontario
- L5H 4E8, Canada.
- If you send $5 or more, I will send you my Hint Sheet, with
- help for puzzles in Science Quest 1 and 2, and Forbidden City of Math!
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- THE STORY OF SCIENCE QUEST:
- You are Mr. Harry Plasma, and you teach Science. You are
- proud to be in your position, for your school is the only
- school in Canada to have a scanning electron microscope.
- One day, however, one of the students locks you in the
- closet. When you break out, the class has gone, and it's
- up to you to find out where they all went..
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- HOW TO PLAY SCIENCE QUEST:
- NOTE: Numlock and Capslock must both be ON to play.
- To start the game, type QUEST. The game will load and run.
- First there will be an introduction showing the game's story.
- To bypass the introduction, press <CTRL-Break>.
- Then you will be in the first room. Type two-word commands to
- instruct your character what to do. (ie - look mirror, eat fish)
- If the action cannot be taken at the moment, the cursor will
- return to the beginning of the line. If the action can be taken
- you will be given a description of what is happening.
- Cinema Screens: Every time you solve a puzzle, the story will advance.
- Pay close attention to the story.. it may give you clues for
- the game ahead. The Cinema scenes move along automatically, so
- you should simply wait for the action to move along by itself.
- Don't press any keys on the keyboard during the C.S's, OK?
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Final Notes: If you are totally stuck, don't despair. Examine the
- onscreen picture of the room carefully; look at the objects in it. If
- you see an object you think you might be able to use, LOOK at the
- object. If you can use it, the game will give you a hint.
- Take notes, too! If you know what you are carrying, you will be able
- to find a use for it somewhere in the game. Good Luck, Harry Plasma!
-
- P.S. if you are really, TOTALLY, HELPLESSLY stuck, you can still get a
- Hint Sheet for $5 - if you are going mad it has all the solutions.. bye
