- RECALL-OF-OBSERVATION TEST
- We observe things every day that we
- scarcely notice. All of what we see
- is stored somewhere in our memories,
- but how accessible is this informa-
- tion? Psychologists have found that
- the ability to recall observation is
- highly correlated with overall in-
- telligence. The brain filters out
- much that is repetitious or irrele-
- vant. Yet who is to say what will
- become important? To a truly observ-
- ant mind -- like that of a scientist
- or detective -- even the insignifi-
- cant may turn out to be vital.
