- The Greek alphabet is used frequently in Mathematics. Consequently, so you
- aren't distracted by nonessentials when you are studying, you must be
- comfortable with the following symbols :

- Lower case :
- α alpha
- ß beta
- τ gamma
- δ delta
- ε epsilon
- σ sigma
- µ mu
- Θ theta
- φ phi

- Upper case :
- Γ gamma
- Σ sigma
- Φ phi

- Most instructors are so familiar with these symbols that they will casually
- interchange them with "real" symbols, like A, B, X, and Y, without even
- thinking twice about it. You must be able to do the same.
