- CTRL-BREAK: Causes the current command or program to be terminated (broken).
- To do this, hold down the CTRL key and then press the BREAK key. The BREAK key
- has SCROLL LOCK on the top. When processing is terminated, control is returned
- to you at the DOS level.
-
- If you issue a CTRL-BREAK while a batch file is executing, the following message
- will be displayed:
-
- Terminate Batch Job (Y/N)?
-
- To terminate the batch file, press Y and then RETURN. Press N and then RETURN
- to continue execution.
-
-
- On the Tandy 1000: Press the BREAK key (without CTRL) to break execution.
- On the PCjr: Hold down FN and press the BREAK key to break execution.
-
-
- WARNING: If you are running an application program, such as a word processor or
- spreadsheet program, you should not perform a CTRL-BREAK. If this is done you
- will lose any work that has not been saved on disk. However, if the application
- is stuck and won't respond to your commands, you can usually rely on CTRL-BREAK
- to terminate the application. If CTRL-BREAK won't work, try a System Reset
- (CTRL-ALT-DEL). If that won't work, you will have to turn the computer's power
- off and on to restart the system.
