- FDISK is a menu driven program that allows you to create a DOS partition, change
- the active partition, display partition data and delete the DOS partition on
- a fixed disk.

- FDISK must be run to create a DOS partition on a new fixed disk before that
- disk can be formatted for use with DOS.

- The options of FDISK are specified by choosing items from the FDISK menus.

- FDISK performs these functions:
- 1. Creates DOS Partition
- 2. Changes Active Partition
- 3. Deletes DOS Partition
- 4. Displays Partition Data

- A partition is a section of fixed disk space. Up to four partitions may be
- created. By setting up multiple partitions, you may run operating systems
- other than DOS from the fixed disk. Each operating system occupies a
- partition.
