  3. Try applying the Substitute Word and Link systems to the complete list of 45
  4. English counties, in order of size.  You have already memorised the first
  5. twelve, so start by associating the thirteenth largest county - %Shropshire\
  6. to the twelfth largest - $Cornwall\.

  8. If you find this too large a task to handle in one go, memorise say ten or
  9. twelve at a time. When you have accomplished this task, and can call out
  10. the complete list both forwards and backwards, you will be amazed at
  11. your new 'powers' of memory.

  13. Also, when you have memorised the list, you might like to reflect on how
  14. difficult it would be to memorise a list of 45 abstract names >without\
  15. using the systems. Most people would find this extremely taxing, if not
  16. completely impossible.
