  7. The way the keys are laid out seems
  8. pretty silly, especially if you are
  9. right-handed.  There was originally a
  10. reason for this inefficient pattern.
  11. The first typewriters were prone to
  12. jamming if the typist pressed certain
  13. key cominations too quickly.  The
  14. key layout was changed to make typing
  15. slower, and this pattern, called
  16. QWERTY, (named after the keys in the
  17. second row on the left) became the
  18. standard!
  19.     There is a faster layout called
  20. Dvorak. (Pronounce it Dvor-jack.)
