- The way the keys are laid out seems
- pretty silly, especially if you are
- right-handed. There was originally a
- reason for this inefficient pattern.
- The first typewriters were prone to
- jamming if the typist pressed certain
- key cominations too quickly. The
- key layout was changed to make typing
- slower, and this pattern, called
- QWERTY, (named after the keys in the
- second row on the left) became the
- standard!
- There is a faster layout called
- Dvorak. (Pronounce it Dvor-jack.)
