  6. 1) Use of CDFS v2.13 or lower.
  7. ------------------------------
  8. There is a known problem with this disc (and indeed any other
  9. multimedia CD-ROM) when using it with Acorns CDFS versions 2.13
  10. or lower on a RISC-OS 3 machine.  A bug in CDFS may cause the
  11. machine to 'hang' after extensive use of the application. The
  12. solution to this is to configure CDROMBuffers (see your CDFS
  13. user guide) to as high a value as possible (eg. 32k on a 2Mb
  14. machine, 128k(or more) on a 4Mb machine). This will greatly
  15. reduce the chance of this problem occuring.

  17. 2) Cumana SCSI Cards
  18. --------------------
  19. Users of Cumana SCSI Cards CA008 or CA006 with
  20. CDFS Driver 1.17 or earlier may experience some 
  21. difficulty running Acorn Replay movies from 
  22. CD-ROM.  This is due to a compatibility problem 
  23. with the latest versions of Replay.

  37. 3) Running the application on 2Mb Acorn Machines
  38. ------------------------------------------------
  39. Running this application on a 2 Megabyte machine requires
  40. all of the available memory. To ensure smooth operation,
  41. be sure that you are running no other applications.  
  42. CD-ROM buffers should be set to 32K at most and the font
  43. cache to 32K at most. For details of how to do this consult
  44. your Acorn user guide.

  46. 4) Videos (and playing them on 2Mb machines)
  47. --------------------------------------------

  49. Normally, in order to play videos on 2 Megabyte machines,
  50. this program will be compressed when you press play, in order 
  51. to free more memory.  A better option is to make a !Scrap 
  52. application available to this program. This will remove the time 
  53. needed to compress the program.  To use this system follow
  54. these steps...

  56.     After switching on the machine, run !Sci3 before
  57.     anything else. 
  58.  
  59.     Make sure you have some free memory available (e.g.
  60.     16K), possibly by reducing the CD-ROM buffers by
  61.     16K if necessary. You may have to restart the machine 
  62.     for this to take effect, and then re-run the program.
  63.     
  64.     Open the hard drive or floppy disc containing your
  65.     !Scrap application (preferably hard drive). About
  66.     500K of disc space is required.

  68.     Click on the "Use !Scrap application" option on the 
  69.     Science 3 icon bar menu so that a tick appears next
  70.     to it.

  73. Your videos can then be accessed more quickly.
