  5.     GENERAL  FEATURES  -  VPIC  is  a  very  easy  to use but
  6. powerful file viewer and converter. It shows pictures in EGA,
  7. MCGA,  VGA or  SuperVGA video  modes on  most of  the popular
  8. display adapter cards, and uses  a plain text config- uration
  9. file to tell  VPIC which VGA chip your  display card uses and
  10. what video modes it can do. It will show and convert pictures
  11. to other file formats, and  has a single file, slideshow, and
  12. menu  mode of  operation. The  menu mode  lists all  viewable
  13. files in a  4 column menu with easy to  use controls to allow
  14. you to show pictures the way  you want to see them (including
  15. a slide  mode). The  single file  mode has  advanced features
  16. which  make  it  attractive  to  an  application program as a
  17. utility for  displaying graphics. The  slideshow mode uses  a
  18. plain text command file listing  the pictures you want to see
  19. in the order you want to  see them, with mode and delay specs
  20. if desired. When a picture is  on the screen, except in slide
  21. modes,  VPIC  has  commands  to  manipulate  the  picture, or
  22. convert the picture to other file formats.
