  5. AnaDisk is a utility for examining, editing and analyzing dis
  6. kettes.  It performs the following functions:
  7.  
  8. *    Analyze diskettes for content and consistency.  The den-
  9.      sity  and  format  of diskettes are automatically deter-
  10.      mined; any format changes or media errors are noted.  In
  11.      the case of DOS diskettes, checks  are  made  to  ensure
  12.      that  a  diskette  complies  with generally accepted DOS
  13.      implementation practice.
  14.  
  15. *    Search diskettes  for  text.   Both  case-sensitive  and
  16.      case-insensitive  searches  may be performed, as well as
  17.      search keys with "wild card" or "don't care"  positions.
  18.      Both  the  active data areas, as well as the inactive or
  19.      erased data areas may be searched.
  20.  
  21. *    Examine and print data on a physical sector, as well  as
  22.      on  a  file basis.  Either ASCII or hexadecimal displays
  23.      may be used.
  24.  
  25.  *    Copy a diskette without regard to format or type.
  26.  
  27.  *    Modify data on a diskette.
  28.  
  29.  *    Repair DOS diskettes containing data errors.
  30.  
  31.  *    Format a diskette according to custom specifications.
  32.  
  33.  *    Copy an area of a diskette to a DOS file.
  34.  
  35.  AnaDisk features   a  menu-driven  "windowed"  presentation.
  36.  Extensive context-sensitive on-line help is available.

  38.  AnaDisk requires  an  IBM PC or PS/2 compatible computer for
  39.  opera- tion.  Certain computers, such  as  the  Tandy  1000,
  40.  2000  or  the IBM PC Jr., are not sufficiently compatible to
  41.  support AnaDisk.

  43.  At  least 512K of memory and a hard disk are recommended for
  44.  AnaDisk operation, although some function  may  be  obtained
  45.  with as little as 384K on a diskette-only system.
