Here's an updated list of my free programs as of January 1, 1992:
--
FILENAME: DBV.EXE
TITLE: DBF View v1.02, 01/01/92
CompuServe: IBMSYS/Lib 6 - DBV102.ZIP
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 5 - DBV102.ZIP
Simple viewer for taking quick looks inside dBASE-compatible .DBF files in
record & browse modes. Does single-field, scan-across searches. File
header info, including field definitions, can be displayed either in
interpreted (human-readable) format, or as hex bytes. New: Fixes bug when
scrolling a line at a time in browse mode.
FILENAME: DIRX.EXE
TITLE: Directory of eXecutables v1.08, 01/01/92
CompuServe: IBMSYS/Lib 6 - DRX108.ZIP
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 5 - DRX108.ZIP
Files compressed with AXE, DIET, EXEPACK, ICE, LEXEM, LZEXE, PKLITE,
SCRNCH, SHRINK & TINYPROG are displayed in the left window. Uncompressed
COM/EXE files are displayed in the right window. Compress and uncompress
individual and groups of files from within the program. Navigate between
drives/directories by pointing and shooting. New: Extends recognition of
files compressed with LZEXE (hacked headers) and DIET (additional headers).
FILENAME: DIRXC.EXE
TITLE: DirX Command-line lister v1.08, 01/01/92
CompuServe: IBMSYS/Lib 6 - DRXC10.ZIP
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 5 - DRXC108.ZIP
Smaller, simpler version of DirX for when you just want a listing of
compressed and uncompressed files. Listing is redirectable to printer or
file. Mimicks DOS's DIR command, to an extent. No sorting is performed.
New: Extends recognition of files compressed with LZEXE (hacked headers)
and DIET (additional headers).
FILENAME: RV.EXE
TITLE: RView v2.42, 12/07/91
CompuServe: IBMSYS/Lib 6, IBMPRO/Lib 10 - RV242.ZIP
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 5 - RV242.ZIP
Directory lister & utility for ARC ARJ LZH LZS PAK ZIP ZOO. Displays
sorted member names by default. Converts self-extracting (SFX) archives to
normal archives. Resets archive dates/times to match newest member.
Strips extra bytes from ends of ARJ/LZH/ZIP files. Strips/attaches ZIP file
comments. Sorts ZIP/LZH files on disk. New: For ZIP 2.0-type archives,
correctly distinguishes among the 3 different variations for "deflating"
(maXimal, Normal and Fast compression).
FILENAME: CRC??.EXE
TITLE: Cyclic Redundancy Checker v1.01, 08/25/91
CompuServe: IBMPRO/Lib 5 - CRC16.ZIP
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 8 - CRC16.ZIP
Contains two equivalent programs, written entirely in C and Modula-2,
respectively, which display 16-bit CRC values of files specified from the
command line. This is the same 16-bit CRC used for ARC, LZH, LZS, PAK and
ZOO files. C and Modula-2 source included. Minor revision from v1.00.
FILENAME: CRC.EXE
TITLE: Cyclic Redundancy Checker v1.14, 08/23/91
CompuServe: IBMSYS/Lib 3 - CRC114.ZIP
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 5 - CRC114.ZIP
Displays both 16- and 32-bit CRC values of files specified from the command
line. 16-bit CRC same as for ARC, LZH, LZS, PAK & ZOO files. 32-bit CRC
same as for ARJ & ZIP. Wildcards and multiple filespecs supported. New:
Files now opened in sharing mode in DOS 3.0 and above. Also, more of the
program has been converted to assembler. Now distributed in .EXE format.
FILENAME: CRCDIR.EXE
TITLE: CRC of DIRectory contents v1.00, 08/23/91
CompuServe: IBMSYS/Lib 3 - CRCDIR.ZIP
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 5 - CRCDIR.ZIP
Computes & displays a single 16-bit & a single 32-bit CRC value for an
entire directory. In other words, the computed CRC values represent
accumulated CRC's of all files contained in a directory. May be used to
provide a high degree of assurance that the contents of directories on
physically separated computers are identical. May also be used to see if
the contents of a directory have changed over time.
FILENAME: ZFV.EXE
TITLE: ZIP Format View v1.01, 02/23/90
CompuServe: IBMSYS/Lib 6 - ZFV101.ZIP
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 5 - ZFV101.ZIP
Allows you to see how a ZIP file is laid out on disk. Uses windowing to
step down to lower levels of detail. Displays record offsets and most field
values, including their interpretation. Admittedly, this program isn't for
everyone. For the curious and those with a need to know, however, this
program displays technical data on actual ZIP files that I haven't seen in
any other program. There are no switches. Usage: ZFV zipfile
FILENAME: FIX.EXE
TITLE: File Fix v3.01, 09/03/89
CompuServe: IBMSYS/Lib 3 - FIX301.ARC
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 5 - FIX301.ZIP
A binary editor which allows easy editing of any file regardless of
attributes. Searches available from within a file: 1) text search, with
wildcard support and 2) byte search, which can find arbitrary sequences of
bytes specified by the user, including nulls, machine code and binary data.
Also includes a scroll bar indicating relative file position, file header
support and 256-byte default records.
FILENAME: FFIND.EXE
TITLE: File Finder v1.06, 07/31/89
CompuServe: IBMSYS/Lib 6 - FND106.ARC
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 5 - FND106.ARC
This program will find any file or subdirectory on your hard disk, including
hidden and system files. Wildcards are accepted. Improvements to this
version include an overall increase in speed and a smaller executable
filesize. Modula-2 source code included.
FILENAME: DIRDEL.EXE
TITLE: Directory Delete v1.24, 07/15/89
CompuServe: IBMSYS/Lib 1, IBMPRO/Lib 5 - DDEL12.ARC
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 5 - DDEL124.ARC
This program will remove entire subdirectory trees from your hard disk -
even those containing read-only, hidden and system files and directories.
It will even delete the current directory. The executable file for this
version is significantly smaller than before. Modula-2 source code
included.
FILENAME: CAL.EXE
TITLE: Calendar v1.00, 06/03/89
CompuServe: IBMPRO/Lib 5 - CAL100.ARC
GEnie: IBM PC RoundTable/Lib 8 - CAL100.ARC
A simple, pop-up calendar display program that can be used as a sort of
perpetual calendar. Valid years range from 0001 to 9999 (arbitrary). This
program is NOT memory-resident. Scroll through the different months and
years. Although the executable file is stand-alone, I don't consider this
to be a complete program. I've contemplated using the included routines as
the starting point for a scheduling program, for example. Modula-2 source
code included.
