Hi, my name's Jack and here's my story. My mom and
I were real poor... so poor, my mom told me to go
sell our last cow.
#002
On the way to town I met an old wizard. He told me
he had six beans that were worth twenty cows. What a
deal! Right?! So I gave him our cow.
#003
I thought Mom would be so happy. Instead, she
screamed, "You sold our last cow for six lousy beans?"
She was ticked. She threw the beans out the window.
#004
The next morning I looked out my window. You
wouldn't believe what I saw - a giant beanstalk that
reached to the clouds! I had to climb it. I'm a boy!
#005
When I got to the top I heard, "You're finally here."
I almost jumped out of my pants! There was a giant
woman there talking to me.
#006
She told me that her husband stole my dad's treasures
long ago. He stole a singing harp, a bag of silver,
and a hen that laid golden eggs.
#007
The lady said, "Now he sits waiting day and night for
someone to take them back. Hurry! Sneak in while he's
sleeping."
#008
I snuck into the giant's castle. He was sound asleep,
so I grabbed the silver, the chicken and the harp. But
when I grabbed the harp, it started singing. Oh, great!!
#009
"Come back here!" yelled the giant. He chased me. I ran
as fast as I could. The giant kept yelling, "Come back
here!" I ran to the beanstalk and climbed down.
#010
When I got to the bottom, I saw the giant was right
behind me. I was so scared! I grabbed an axe and cut
the beanstalk down. The giant fell with a thud!
#011
I thought the giant was dead, but he whispered, "I told
you to come back. I wanted to tell you I was sorry for
stealing your dad's stuff." I felt so sorry for him.
#012
That was a long time ago. The giant and his wife moved
in with us. We share everything, and we'll never let
money get in the way of friendship ever again.
