  9. Thank you for trying ThreeCard.  ThreeCard is a variation of stud poker, 
  10. with three cards being used instead of five.  This game is just starting
  11. to become popular in American casinos. 
  12.  
  13. By playing the game on your Pilot, you can quickly try a number of betting
  14. strategies, and perhaps you can learn to play better and win a few bucks 
  15. next time you go to the casino.  If you do please remember who provided 
  16. this learning aid for you ;-)

  18. The initial bankroll provided by this program is $500.  If you run out
  19. of money, you will need to register the program in order to be able to
  20. "buy" additional chips and continue playing the game.  The registration fee
  21. is just $5.00.  A small sum for all the enjoyment you will get from this
  22. game!

  31. How to Play

  34. The screen for the game is divided as follows:

  50. The bet amount can be changed by selecting inside the BetAmt area.  Valid
  51. bet amounts are $5 to $25 in increments of $5.
  52.  
  53. ThreeCard is actually two games in one.  In the first game, called
  54. PairPlus, you are only betting that you will get one pair or higher.  You
  55. are not betting against the dealer with this hand.  To play this game,
  56. press the "PairPlus" button in the Betting Buttons area of the screen.
  57. The PairPlus button toggles a chip icon that indicates whether you are
  58. playing this game or not.

  60. After selecting the PairPlus button (and/or the Ante button - see below),
  61. press the "Deal" button in the Play Buttons area to start the game.

  63. If you get a pair or better with your three cards, you will be paid according
  64. to the following payout odds:
  65.  
  66. One pair:    1:1
  67. Flush:        4:1
  68. Straight:    6:1
  69. Three of kind:    30:1
  70. Straight flush:    40:1

  72. In the second game, referred to in this document as Ante/Play, you are
  73. betting that you will beat the dealer.  To play this game, press the "Ante"
  74. button in the Betting Buttons area of the screen.  This button toggles a
  75. chip icon that indicates whether you are playing this game or not.

  77. After the deal, you will need to back up your Ante bet with a Play bet if
  78. you wish to stay in the game.  A Play bet is made by pressing the "Play"
  79. button in the Betting Buttons area of the screen.

  81. The dealer only plays with a Queen high or better.  If the dealer does not
  82. have at least a Queen high, there is a push on the Play bet, and you win
  83. the Ante bet 1:1.  If the dealer does play, and your hand is higher than
  84. the dealer's hand, you are paid 1:1 on both the Ante bet and the Play bet.
  85. The hand rankings are slightly different for three card poker than they are
  86. for five card.  The hands in increasing order are:

  88. No Pair (high card)
  89. One Pair
  90. Flush
  91. Straight
  92. Three of a Kind
  93. Straight Flush

  96. There is also an additional payout called the AnteBonus payout that is
  97. paid on certain hands in the Ante/Play game.  This payout is made regardless
  98. of whether the dealer plays or whether the player's hand beats the dealer's 
  99. hand.  The AnteBonus payouts are as follows:

  102. Three of Kind:    4:1
  103. Straight Flush:    5:1

  105. One final note about the Ante/Play game:  Since the dealer only plays with
  106. a Queen high or better, it is generally the best strategy for the player
  107. to play only with a Queen high or better.

  110. You can play either the PairPlus game or the Ante/Play game, or both.

  118. Statistics - View buy-in amount, winnings, and hand statistics.

  120. Buy Chips 500 - Buy an additional $500 in chips.

  122. Cash in Chips 500 - Cash-in $500 in chips.

  124. Instructions - Game play instructions.

  126. Payouts - Display payout amounts for each poker hand.

  128. About ThreeCard - Gives version number and other info.

  130. Register - Gives address to send registration fee and contains input field
  131. for registration code.

  139. To register by mail, please send a check or money order for $5(US). Make 
  140. check payable to Rose Software, and write "ThreeCard" on the check.

  142. Please include your email address so that I can send you a registration
  143. code.  Your registration code will then need to be entered via the
  144. Register option in the pulldown menu in order to activate the ability
  145. to purchase additional chips and to be able to reset the statistics.

  147. You can also pay by credit card.  Our web site contains links to Pilot
  148. Gear HQ, the company that handles the credit card transactions.  Return
  149. of the registration code to you usually takes less than one day when 
  150. paying be credit card.

  174. -------------

  176. Install ThreeCard.prc using instapp.exe.
  177. instapp.exe can be found in your pilot directory. (ex.c:\pilot\instapp.exe)

  179. Alternately, this application can be installed via the Palm Desktop application.
  180. Go to the "Install" Icon under Palm Desktop, and then click "Add...".  This 
  181. will bring up a browse window which you can use to find ThreeCard.prc.  Select
  182. ThreeCard.prc, and the next time you do a HotSync, the application will be
  183. transferred to your Palm Pilot.
