\<COLOUR 1> COMMENTS: \<COLOUR 0> Probe's primary mission is to orbit Jupiter and release a probe into its atmosphere; it travels in a circuitous route employing what is called the VEEGA (Venus-Earth- Earth Gravity) trajectory, flying by Venus once (February 10, 1990) and Earth twice (December 8, 1990, and December 8, 1992), using their gravity to gain speed to take it to Jupiter on December 7, 1995; on the way it encounters the asteroids Gaspra (October 29, 1991) and Ida (August 28, 1993).
