===== Information for Users ("READ-ME") ================
Click-It Version 1.00
========================================================================
INTRODUCTION
------------
This package contains a full unrestricted version of Click-It, a graphic
game by Harvera Associates. Also included are several sample-sized game
files which show the range of entertainment and educational
possibilities for the game.
REQUIREMENTS
------------
To run Click-It you need a 286 (or better) system using MS-DOS version
3.0 or higher. You must have a VGA monitor and a mouse. A hard disk
with at least 1 MB available is recommended. Newer systems obviously
give better performance.
INSTALLATION
------------
This procedure is only used when installing from floppy to hard drive.
If Click-It has been downloaded directly to your hard drive or has been
manually installed, ignore this section...
The installation procedure for Click-It is fairly simple. An INSTALL
file is provided which automates the process for most users. To use
this file...
1. Insert the Click-It diskette into a diskette drive and enter the
drive letter (normally "A:").
2. Enter a command similar to...
INSTALL A: C: CLICKIT where...
=====================
"A:" is the diskette drive FROM which you will install Click-It.
This can be changed if your diskette drive letter is different.
"C:" is the hard drive TO which Click-It is to be installed. This
can be changed if your hard disk drive letter is different.
"CLICKIT" is the directory name in which Click-It will be
installed. This can be changed to a name of your choice if
desired.
The most common situation is a system where the diskette drive is A:,
the hard disk is C: and it is OK to create a directory named CLICKIT to
install this package. In this case, all you need to do is enter exactly
as shown above. Contact us as shown below if your situation is
different and you need help.
DOCUMENTATION
-------------
Additional documentation is created when Click-It is installed. This
includes game operating instructions, legal points, registration
procedures and other information.
To view this documentation at any time, change to the directory where
Click-It is installed and enter...
VIEW CLICKIT.DOC

To print this documentation, be sure your printer is ready to print.

GAME OVERVIEW
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each game will have one or more play screens. The screens have either
one or four levels, depending on the game being played. Each level
contains a clue list describing items found in that screen's picture.
Five clues will be selected at random from the clue list for each level.
The object of the game is to respond quickly to selected clues by moving
the mouse cursor to an appropriate section of the picture and clicking.
A correct response is given when the object diretly under the cross
hairs of the magnifying glass shaped cursor match the given clue and the
left mouse button is clicked.
Colored blocks drop down the right side of the screen to show the time
available for each clue. As the game progresses, less time is available.
While quicker correct responses are rewarded with higher scores, bad
clicks cut scoring opportunities by a third. Three bad clicks and a
scoring opportunity is missed. A game starts with three misses allowed.
Misses allowed are represented by pins in the lower right corner of the
play screen. A new pin is rewarded after each screen past the third one
is completed. The game is declared over if all of the pins are lost.
An automatic speed control slows the game down when scoring opportunites
are missed or when the colored timing block is allowed to drop too far.
The speed control will shift back up when it senses it is ok to do so.
A handy feature for beginners is the Computer Aided Movement. When
selected, the CAM will direct the cursor toward the nearest spot it
senses as good. The CAM may be turned on or off during the game. A
penalty is enforced on clues that come up when the CAM is on. This
penalty and the fact that the player must wait for the CAM to move keeps
scores low when the it is used. CAM is best left off unless needed.
It can be seen that scoring is based on speed and skill. Guages on the
play screen show how well a player is doing in these areas. Keep in
mind that two players may have the same speed and skill and yet end up
with different scores! Each scoring opportunity counts - it may be the
last clue on the last screen that puts a player on the high scores board.
The score of any completed game having had less than the full length of
ten screens or having just one level of clues per screen will be adjusted
to allow score comparisons with other games.
========================================================================
HOW TO PLAY
------------------------------------------------------------------------
To play Click-It, log into the drive and directory where the game is
installed, then enter CLICKIT. The program will quickly scan the
directory for game files and then show the game descriptions on a
scrollable list. Clicking on the scroll bar or arrows changes the
selected game. Clicking on a game description will select that game.
Sound and CAM option buttons are available both on the main screen as
well as during game play...
'Sound' turns the sound effects Off/On.
'CAM' turns the Computer Aided Movement Off/On.
The CAM is described in 'Game Overview'.
Other buttons available on the main screen are;
'Play' starts game play using the currently selected game file.
'Scores' accesses three high score boards...
Top ten scores achieved in that game session.
Top ten scores for the currently selected game.
Top ten all time scores - all games.
Boards may be individually reset using the 'Clear' button.
'Info...' will bring up information on the currently selected game
file.
'Exit' will close the game.
Use the [Esc] key at any point in Click-It if you want to quickly end a
game or exit the program.
