  1.          LICENSING FOR THE MANGLE BBS DOOR

  4.     MANGLE is not a public domain program.  Copies of MANGLE are being
  5. distributed via "shareware" methods, which allows you to try out the
  6. program prior to paying for it.  If you decide to keep MANGLE, you should
  7. pay for it.  (These registration checks are the only income I receive from
  8. Mangle, and goes to support further work on the program and on other
  9. games.)
  10.  
  11.     When I receive your check, I'll record your name as a registered user
  12. and send you a copy of the latest version of Mangle.  This version will
  13. have improvements that the shareware version does not, plus a much larger
  14. list of words -- 40 new words.    You'll also be able to receive money from
  15. me whenever one of your users registers for extended play on your board.

  17.     Technical support is available to registered MANGLE users through my
  18. BBS, the Packet Press bulletin board system at (301) 294-0756, or by Email
  19. via the Relaynet (RIME) system (->PACKET).  In emergencies, I'll also take
  20. phone (voice) calls.

  27. If you have any problem with the agreement below, contact me before
  28. proceeding further.   Note that it includes access to your board for
  29. the purpose of checking Mangle's operation -- this allows me to keep
  30. a bad installation from turning off users who are seeing it for the
  31. first time.  (This access can be restricted to Mangle only; in any
  32. case I will adhere to your board's rules.)

  35.            Terms of the Mangle license
  36. (You must agree to this before receiving a copy of the registered version.)

  38. Eric Balkan, dba "Packet Press", hereinafter "Publisher", provides this
  39. software and licenses its use.    Your use of the software acknowledges that
  40. you have read this agreement, understand it, and agree to be bound by its
  41. terms and conditions.

  43.     You may not distribute your copy of the registered version, nor any
  44.     part of it, to any other person nor use it at more than 1 site
  45.     simultaneously.   This coverage includes, but is not limited to,
  46.     passwords, word lists, and the executable file itself.

  48.     You may not use Mangle on more than the number of phone lines (nodes)
  49.     that you have registered.
  50.  
  51.     You must provide access to the Publisher to your board on each node
  52.     that you are running Mangle so that the Publisher can check its
  53.     operation.

  55. For its part, the Publisher will make a good faith attempt to fix any
  56. reported bugs or supply work-around solutions for problems or provide a
  57. refund of the registration fee, at its option.

  59. This license is effective until terminated.  You may terminate it at
  60. any time by destroying the software together with all copies.  The license
  61. also terminates if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this
  62. agreement.

  64. The contents of this diskette are protected by United States Copyright
  65. law and also by International Treaty provisions.
  66.  
  67. The Publisher makes no warranties in regard to this software.  No claim
  68. is made that functions contained in this software will meet your
  69. requirements or that the software operation will be uninterrupted or error
  70. free.

  72. In no event will the publisher be liable to you for any damages,
  73. including any lost profits, lost savings or other incidental or
  74. consequential damages arising out of the use or inability to use this
  75. software, or for any claim by any other party.
  76.  
  77. This agreement shall be construed, interpreted and governed by the laws
  78. of the state of Maryland.  You agree that this is the complete and
  79. exclusive statement of this agreement which supersedes any prior agreement
  80. or other communication between us on this subject.
