  3. SharpShooter is a distributed performance management system which is
  4. used by system managers to monitor, troubleshoot, and plan growth for
  5. medium to large networks of Sun servers.

  7. *  Performance Monitoring
  8.  
  9.    SharpShooter is used to monitor server and network performance
  10.    in large complex networks.  When first installed, SharpShooter
  11.    analyzes the network and creates a baseline profile of each
  12.    server's NFS performance.  This baseline is used to identify when 
  13.    performance problems occur and to measure the severity of the
  14.    problem.

  18.    Once a problem has been identified, the user can use SharpShooter's
  19.    detailed screens to diagnose and troubleshoot the problem, whether
  20.    it be system or network based.  In most cases, SharpShooter's built
  21.    in expert rules will have already diagnosed the problem.  SharpShooter
  22.    closes the loop by providing an on-line hypertext based solutions
  23.    guide which suggests several alternatives and assists the user through
  24.    the implementation of their desired solution.

  29.    over 75 predefined long-term graphs to allow the performance
  30.    analyst to visualize performance in-depth and make solid, objective
