The chromatic harmonica is more sophisticated and flexible, but also has some disadvantages. On the plus side, the chromatic harp can be played in any key. Certain effects, such as the trill, are much easier to play on a chromatic. On the minus side, bending notes downward by using the breath is much harder than on a diatonic harmonica. This effect is a must for blues, country and rock playing, so if this is where your main interest is, we recommend a diatonic harmonica.
