  1. This new section of the Telecom Archives has been established as a
  2. place where book reviews from the TELECOM Digest over the past two
  3. years along with reviews from several other publications can be found
  4. in one convenient location.

  6. Where the reviews appeared in TELECOM Digest they were usually written
  7. by Rob Slade, but there are other book reviewers included. Most of
  8. these simply have the date, the reviewer's name and the title. Reviews
  9. that have been included from other sources usually have the masthead
  10. of that publication shown in the file.

  12. One problem with files names in Unix is the limitation on the number
  13. of characters in the name. This means some of the book titles had to
  14. be abbreviated.  Where possible, an abbreviation was done in order
  15. that the author's name could be included. Where abbreviation was not
  16. possible without -- in my opinion -- causing the title of the book to
  17. be almost impossible to comprehend then the author's name was omitted
  18. in order to give more space to the title itself.

  20. In addition to the reviews here which appeared in TELECOM Digest at
  21. some time or another in 1993-1994, you will find reviews which
  22. appeared in Computer Underground Digest, Virus-L and a few other
  23. places. Often times, these which appeared in other journals were also
  24. written by Rob Slade.

  26. Enjoy the book reviews!  If you see some books you like, enough detail
  27. is given in the reviews to assist you in locating a copy at your
  28. favorite book store.

  30. Got other books that should be included? They should have a specific
  31. telecommuniations or networking theme.
