From: Jan Ceuleers <CEULEERJ@bsg.bel.alcatel.be>
Pat,
As explained in the submission message, this file is called viterbi.tar.Z. It
contains a piece of software for the IBM PC, both in source form and executable
form, as well as a couple of README files.
The purpose of the program is to demonstrate the operation of convolutional
encoders/decoders, also known as trellis codes (or the Viterbi algorithm). The
source code to this program comes from Appendix A of Sklar's textbook on
Digital Communications. Having followed his 1-week course, I was given this
program by Prof. Sklar on a diskette, just like all the other students.
I have obtained specific permission from Prof. Sklar to submit this
software for inclusion in the Telecom Archives, provided the credits
are kept intact (they are in the file READ.ME).
Best regards,
Jan Ceuleers, hw/sw development engineer
