CONDOR the graphical ANSI.SYS replacment, REAL pixel graphics
online, human readable script graphics CGA/EGA/VGA modes supported
AT or Later BIOS required. Condor v6.0 has FONTs and custom Assembler
routines to speed up many graphics functions, plus Joystick commands,
BITBLIT for animation, and constants are now filtered.
..................................................................
YOU MUST HAVE CONDOR.SYS installed for CPAINT to work!
------------------------------------------------------
DELETE the line in your CONFIG.SYS that looks like :
device = ANSI.SYS
ADD a line in your CONFIG.SYS like:
device = CONDOR.SYS
OR RUN INSTALL.EXE
ALSO: read and edit the ACCESS.BAT NOW!
then REBOOT. CONDOR.SYS will load high:
Load Condor with UMB_DRV.SYS and DOS 5.0 and it takes NO DOS memory.
MEMMAKER and DOS 6.0 will load condor high also.
AFTER you install CONDOR.SYS and REBOOT try typing
DEMO in the directory you unzipped CONDOR in!
...........................................................................
CMOS:
----
You should have your VIDEO SHADOW RAM SET to "ENABLED" in
your CMOS. This will make CONDOR graphics 2 to 3x faster,
even the sound effects will be better.
TERMINALs:
----------
BIG, COM-AND, PIBTERM, INVISABLE LINK, RCOMM
terminals can be configured to display CONDOR graphics online,
read on for more....
QWK READERs
-----------
SPEED130.ZIP Speed Read v1.30 will display CONDOR.SYS graphics
with it's 'A' command! Be sure to put a TAGLINE on the end of
the CONDOR graphic to make sure the last line doesn't get
chopped off! Available on The UNKNOWN SYSTEM BBS 205-534-8532 and
GEnie BBS RT page 610
.......................................................
I am releasing Condor Paint to promote the use of
CONDOR.SYS the graphical ANSI.SYS replacement.
This is the current full working version of CPAINT as of 3/94
CONDOR and CPAINT are DONATION-WARE, send $15 or what ever you can
afford to encourage CONDOR and CPAINT updates to:
Larry Mears
11027 Crestfield Dr.
Huntsville, AL 35803
NOTE:
-----
Also look for BIG103.ZIP if you want a terminal that will display
CONDOR.SYS graphics online. This terminal requires BNU.SYS or X00.SYS.
Terminals that can fly with CONDOR.SYS
--------------------------------------
Another terminal that can support CONDOR is COM-AND (set screen writes
to DOS and terminal type to TTY). uh, COM-AND adds linefeeds, can really
mangle graphics sometimes.
PIBTERM402 will also support CONDOR by setting DOS console writes and
terminal type to dumb. See PIBTERM.TXT and COM-AND.TXT for details.
INVISABLE LINK ( IL.ARC on GEnie IBM PC RT only 20K !)
IL is a TSR terminal that does bacground XMODEM crc file transfers
and supports CONDOR.SYS no configuration just uses it automatically.
IL has problems with CONDOR's musical notes command (don't know why).
RCOMM-V2.ARC ( on Genie IBM PC RT around 50K )
RCOMM is also a TSR terminal and supports CONDOR.SYS well. It has
background transfers also and has no problems with CONDOR that I can find
so far. RCOMM has XMODEM and YMODEM batch.
.......
"You may be able to POP UP IL or RCOMM inside QMODEM/TELIX or PROCOMM
but I would bet that most likely the serial port routines will clash.
Try to reset which COM port to use when you pop back in Telix, Qmodem
or Procomm and they may recover."
The mighty QMODEM/TELIX will not support CONDOR but someday I hope they
will. CONDOR isn't going away. I will fight the good fight.
CONDOR is a very affordable high res online graphics alternative.
Since Condor doesn't have to complied in and can be loaded high to free
up DOS memory it may be a the best choice. CONDOR will work
offline with DOS by just going C:\TYPE filename.ext and even BAT files can
have CONDOR graphics embedded too! Condor becomes a part of DOS. Condor 4.0+
and CPaint 1.3+ can make ICONS to run BAT files or be a BBS menu. If you have
a LOGICTECH mouse you can emulate the ARROW keys and ENTER and get
POINT & CLICK operation of DOS and BBSs with your mouse. CONDOR 6 supports
the joystick(s) for GUI use.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are a bunch of FILES in this zip with the extender .CFX they are FONT
files. After you install CONDOR.SYS just go C:\TYPE filename.CFX to see
what they look like. 32 FONTs!!!!!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download these files from
The UNKNOWN SYSTEM BBS 205-534-8532 14400 v.32 bis
Look in file area 1
BIG103.ZIP and BNU170.ZIP(BNU not needed if you have X00.SYS) over 200K combined
PIBTERM402
IL.ZIP only 20K !
RCOMM-V2.ARC about 50K
BIG is a graphics terminal and has great graphics online beyond even Condor
graphics, although BIG graphics are not seen on the SYSOP side, they are based
on BORLAND's BGI. BIG has MOUSE ZONE for online POINT and
CLICK opperation of BBSs, if the BBS has them set up, and BIG script is
human readable base 10. The BIG Painter is free. Although BIG is shareware
I will give you a key for version BIG 1.03 that enables it's full capabilities,
bitblit animation, all sound effects, all 64 colors. BIG supports 3 modes
640x200x16 640x350x16 and 640x480x16 You can MIX BIG and CONDOR commands
if you are using the BIG term with CONDOR and use standard ANSI too!
CONDOR does support a 256 color mode, BIG doesn't.
See BIG_KEY.TXT for the BIG key.
BIG related files (not needed for CONDOR.SYS online displays):
BF102.ZIP offline BIG term graphics viewer
BPAINT05.ZIP a Mouse Painter for BIG term graphics creation
Also MEGAHOST bbs supports BIG terminal graphics and soon CONDOR.SYS graphics
too! MEGAHOST bbs software is available from:
ASCII Computer Enterprises 231 Market Place #353 San Ramon, CA 94583
A local sysop tells me that he can see the CONDOR.SYS graphics on the
sysop side using VBBS although VBBS doesn't support alternate menus,
beyond ASCII, ANSI, you can upload CONDOR graphics into the message base.
Alternate graphics menus can be displayed using Remote Access bbs and OPUS with
the LANGUAGE feature of the bbs software. I haven't seen CONDOR.SYS graphics
using OPUS and RA software but if they support ANSI.SYS the CONDOR.SYS
will work in it's place. I have used both OPUS and RA but it's been some time,
I did get them to do the alternate menus for the BIG term graphics.
