About This Welcome to Drag And Drop Printing. The Manual documentation
included in this package provides comprehensive information on
installing and using Drag and Drop Printing version 2.0 for
Microsoft Windows.
Conventions To help you find information, the Drag and Drop Printing
documentation adheres to the following conventions:

procedure
What is Drag and Drop Printing is a utility that Drag and allows you to
Drag & Drop print ASCII files easily under Windows. Printing is easy with
Printing? Drag and Drop Printing, all you have to do is drag a file from
file manager and drop it on top of the Drag and Drop Printing
icon. It's that simple, drag, drop and print!
Definition Shareware distribution gives users of a chance to try software
Shareware before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
differ on details -- some request registration while others
require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
using the software to an updated program with a printed manual.
Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few
specific exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are
accomplished programmers, just like commercial authors, and the
programs are of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are
good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in the
method of distribution. The author specifically grants the
right to copy and distribute the software, either to all and
sundry or to a specific group. For example, some authors
require written permission before a commercial disk vendor may
copy their Shareware.
Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system
makes fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you
buy. And because the overhead is low, prices are low also.
Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't
use the product, you don't pay for it.
Drag and Drop Printing is a "shareware program" and is provided
at no charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it
with your friends, but please do not give it away altered or as
part of another system. The essence of "user-supported"
-1-
software is to provide personal computer users with quality
software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for
programmers to continue to develop new products. If you find
this program useful and find that you are using Drag and Drop
Printing and continue to use Drag and Drop Printing after a
reasonable trial period, you must make a registration payment
of $15.00 to FLFSOFT, INC. The $15.00 registration fee will
license one copy for use on any one computer at any one time.
You must treat this software just like a book. An example is
that this software may be used by any number of people and may
be freely moved from one computer location to another, so long
as there is no possibility of it being used at one location
while it's being used at another. Just as a book cannot be
read by two different persons at the same time.
Commercial users of Drag and Drop Printing must register and
pay for their copies of Drag and Drop Printing within 30 days
of first use or their license is withdrawn. Site-License
arrangements may be made by contacting FLFSOFT, INC.
Anyone distributing Drag and Drop Printing for any kind of
remuneration must first contact FLFSOFT, INC. at the address
below for authorization. This authorization will be
automatically granted to distributors recognized by the
(ASPASP) as adhering to its guidelines for shareware
distributors, and such distributors may begin offering Drag and
Drop Printing immediately (However FLFSOFT, INC. must still be
advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the
latest version of Drag and Drop Printing.).
You are encouraged to pass a copy of Drag and Drop Printing
along to your friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to
register their copy if they find that they can use it. All
registered users will receive a copy of the latest version of
the Drag and Drop Printing system.

the run dialog to be displayed. Enter
<DRIVE>:\<DIR>\DDP2.EXE. Substitute the drive and directory
where you installed Drag and Drop Printing for <DRIVE> and
<DIR> in the previous example (if you used the INSTALL

After you have executed Drag and Drop Printing, it will appear
as an icon on your desktop. To print text files with Drag and
Drop Printing use the following procedure:
1. Open file manager.
2. Select the subdirectory that contains the file you wish to
print.
3. Select the file you wish to print by clicking on it.

Select multiple contiguous files by clicking on the first
file you wish to select, hold the SHIFT keys while selecting

first file you wish to select, hold the CTRL keys and select
the other files.
4. Once the file is selected, drag the filename from the File
Manager to the top of the Drag and Drop Printing icon and
release it.
While you are dragging the file from File Manager to

Fonts dialog allows you to modify the Font, Font style and Font
size for the entire document. These changes only apply to the
documents being printed; they do not actually modify the contents
of the file. Your font selections will be stored in the DDP.INI
file and used each time you use Drag and Drop Printing.
-9-
To change the Font, Font Style or Font Size using the Fonts
dialog:
* In the Font box, type or select a Font Name.
* In the Fonts Style box, type or select a Style.

Preferences The Preferences dialog gives you the ability to customize Drag
and Drop Printing to suit your personal preferences.
Print Simulated Duplex Printing
Options
Duplex printing saves paper by printing on both sides of the
paper. Simulated duplex printing allows duplex printing on
printers that do not internally support duplex printing.
Duplex Printers
If you have a printer that internally supports duplex printing
you must change the duplex printing option from the Printer
Setup option. From the Printer Setup dialog box, choose the
Options button. In the Duplex Printing group box, select the
option you want to use. Choose the OK button and print as
normal.
-10-
Simplex Printers
Drag and Drop Printing implements duplex printing by first
printing the odd pages, pausing to allow you to re-insert the
pages and then printing the even pages. After the odd pages
are printed a dialog will appear requesting you to re-insert
the pages in the printer.
When the dialog appears you will need to re-order the paper and
put it back into the printer. Depending on how your printer
feeds paper you will have to turn the paper over and/or re-
order the sheets of paper.
Experiment with duplex printing with a small file until you
determine the correct method to put the pages back in the
printer.
Some printer manufacturers recommend that you do not print on
both sides of the paper. Please refer to your printer manual
for more details.
Show Print You can use the Show Print Dialog option to determine if Drag and
Dialog Drop Printing will show the Print Dialog before printing. The
following options are available on the print dialog.
Range Options
All This will print all pages of the file
Pages This option will only print the pages entered in the To
and From edit boxes.
Note: You cannot use Pages when you have the Simulated Duplex Printing
selected.
General Options
Print to File This option will cause your document to be printed
to a file rather than your printer. You will be
prompted for a file name when printing begins.
Setup This button will bring up the Printer Setup dialog.
-11-
Shell "Shell" printing allows you to print files created with your
Printing favorite programs by just dropping the file on top of the Drag and
Drop Printing icon. This process of "Shell" printing is
implemented in two phases. The first phase is when you install
applications in Windows. As an option, applications my add
information to a special Windows file called the "REGISTRATION
DATABASE". The second phase is when you use the File Manager
Associate command to associate a file extension with a program.
Once this association is completed, Drag and Drop Printing can
retrieve information about the application that is associated with
the file and determine if the application can be run to print the
file. If there is no program associated with the file , Drag and
Drop Printing will just print the file as ASCII text.
General Set Program Description
Options
The Set Program Description allows you to change the description of
the program when it is running under Windows. There are two options
for the program description:
Program Name
This option will display the program name (DDP v2.0) as the
description of the program.
Printer Name
This option will display the printer and port name as the
description of the program. The format of the description
is 'printer name' on 'port name'. Printer name is the name
of the printer when you installed the driver. Port Name is
the name of the port that the printer is connected to. An
example is 'HP LaserJet III' on 'LPT1:'
Setting The Set Program Icon option allows you to change the icon that is
Program displayed when Drag and Drop Printing runs on your system. To
Icon change the icon scroll through the list and select the icon of
your choice.
-12-
