  2. CD-ROM Supplement: CD Net 3.0, Meridian Data
  3.  
  4. This bulletin outlines the configuration of Meridian Data's CD Net
  5. Server with CD Net version 3.01 software. CD Net supports up to 14
  6. half-height CD-ROM drives (the model 100NC supports up to 8 CD-ROM
  7. drives), and supports the High Sierra, ISO 9660 disc formats.

  9. Installing the CD Net Tower
  10. 1.  Install the CD-ROM drives as noted in "Server Tower Hardware -
  11.     Reference and Installation" manual.
  12. 2.  Create a boot disk which will contain the following files:
  13.     command.com, ae2.exe, ailanbio.exe (ae2, ailanbio provided by
  14.     Artisoft) server.exe, server.cfg, hscsirom.sys, scsiwd70.sys
  15.     (these files provided by Meridian)
  16. 3.  On this boot disk, create an Autoexec.bat file which loads the
  17.     Artisoft drivers and Meridian's Server software (IE: ae2,
  18.     ailanbio, set hx=/noswap, server).
  19. 4.  Create a Config.sys file with the following line:
  20.     device=scsiwd70.sys d=hscsirom.sys /r:1 /s:1
  21. 5.  Boot the server and install the discs in the caddies. The
  22.     server should be at the Status Screen. 
  23. 6.  Set up each workstation so that the following is loaded in the
  24.     config.sys file:
  25.     device=\mcdnet.sys /d:cdnetrom /s:1 /u:1 
  26.     (in this configuration /s:1 and /u:1 specify one server and 1
  27.     drive letter)
  28. 7.  Set up each workstation so that the following is loaded after
  29.     the Artisoft network files:
  30.     mscdex /d:cdnetrom
  31.     set cdservers=1
  32.     set cdnetdrvr=cdnetrom
  33.     set datafile=artisoft.dat
  34. 8.  Once installed, each workstations should have a redirected
  35.     drive through MSCDEX to the CD Net Tower. Nothing should be
  36.     done through the LANtastic network to share the CD Net Tower,
  37.     as this is handled specifically by Meridian's software.

  39. Operation
  40. The CD Net Server can be accessed on the network through menu
  41. software or though a command line utility called CMOUNT.   I.E.:
  42. CMOUNT /I0:ID#  /O  {Where /I is the ID as displayed in CD Status
  43. CMOUNT /N0:ID#  /O  {Where /N is the Label as displayed in CD
  44. Status

  46. Earlier versions of the menu software were reported to have
  47. problems with the network. Meridian Data has verified that these
  48. problems have been corrected with version 3.01.

  50. CD Status will display the current status of the CD-ROM drives.
  51. Both the ID and Label should appear in the drive status box on the
  52. right side of the screen. Some discs have no label, however, a disc
  53. ID will always appear.
