  118. ===== Installation =====================================

  120. The installation procedure for ANY MEDLIN program is quite simple. The
  121. package includes a program, "VIEWDOC.COM", which automates the entire
  122. process. You will need about 40k of available space on any disk or drive
  123. for any MEDLIN program which you plan to install.
  124.

  126. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  127.  
  128. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  129.  
  130.    o  Place diskette in the appropriate diskette drive.
  131.  
  132.    o  Execute the "VIEWDOC.COM" program on the distribution diskette.
  133.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  134.       the MS-DOS command, "A:VIEWDOC".
  135.  
  136.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the VIEWDOC program.
  137.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  138.       are actually made to the contents of your disk. The program will
  139.       ask you for a destination directory, and will copy the MEDLIN
  140.       files to that directory. If you so direct it, the installation
  141.       program will install executable program in a directory of your
  142.       choice. It will make no other changes; specifically, it will not
  143.       modify your autoexec.bat or config.sys files.

  146. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  147.  
  148. If you downloaded MEDLIN from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  149. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  150. following steps.
  151.  
  152.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  153.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  154.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  155.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  156.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  157.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  158.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  159.       the package.
  160.  
  161.    o  Execute the "VIEWDOC.COM" program which you have extracted.  For
  162.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  163.       the Medlin package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  164.       command, "c:\tempdir\viewdoc".

  166.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the VIEWDOC program. You will
  167.       have a chance to approve installation before any changes are

  179. INSTALLING FROM A CD-ROM

  181. If you are viewing this text from a CD-ROM, use the VIEWDOC program to
  182. install MEDLIN to your hard drive (see installing from a hard drive
  183. instructions). You will be allowed to select a path to install to.
  184. MEDLIN will not run from a CD-ROM as the data files are written to disk
  185. at the end of processing.

  189. Once you've complete the installation, you should consult the documents
  190. for each program that has been installed.  In particular, read at least
  191. the General Manual. This document will tell you how to invoke the
  192. program, and will give you other information you need to properly
  193. evaluate any Medlin Program.  We hope you enjoy the program.

  203.      For Disk Vendors:  All of the programs in this file except
  204.      FILE_ID.DIZ and VENDINFO.DIZ should be included on your
  205.      distribution disk. Users should be directed to run VIEWDOC.COM to
  206.      print the manuals or install the programs. GO.BAT and INSTALL.BAT
  207.      are small batch files that simply run VIEWDOC. VIEWDOC prints the
  208.      manuals contained in MEDLIN.ARC which should not be modified or
