  11.    Have Fun With Chinese Characters!
  12.  
  13.    We are providing some Chinese characters from our high quality fonts for
  14.    your fun. CH_K.PFB and CH_K.GSF each contain (the same) 94 modern (or
  15.    simplified,'short') Chinese characters in Kaishu style (the printed style
  16.    that is closest to brush writing) from our OUTLINE fonts. If you are
  17.    Chinese or like to add an exotic touch to your greeting cards, invitations,
  18.    titles etc., you'll find them pleasant and useful.

  20.    CH_K.PFB can be used by Adobe Type Manager under MS-Windows 3.x, and
  21.    CH_K.GSF can be used by Ghostscript. Both of these fonts have been tested
  22.    under these software.

  25.    HOW TO USE
  26.  
  27.    1. Install:
  28.  
  29.       For Adobe Type Manager, use ATM to install Hanzi-Kaishu onto your
  30.       Harddisk; for Ghostscript, copy CH_K.GSF to your Ghostscript directory
  31.       and add the line:

  33.         \Hanzi-Kaishu   (ch_k.gsf) \StandardEncoding 4988600 ;
  34.  
  35.       to the file FONTMAP.
  36.  
  37.    2. The name of this sample font is 'Hanzi-Kaishu'. In Adobe Type Manager,
  38.       you can choose the font directly from the menu, but in Ghostscript you
  39.       need to type in the full name.

  41.    3. You can find all the Chinese characters provided as well as their Oct.
  42.       -codes and key in the files 'CHAR.PS' and 'CHAR.WRI'. Under Adobe Type
  43.       Manager, you can use these characters by typing in the key. You can
  44.       type in the Oct.-codes directly in Ghostscript too.

  46.    4. The files 'CIHUI.PS' and 'CIHUI.WRI' contain a listing of some of the
  47.       meaningful combinations of these characters, together with their
  48.       meaning in English.

  52.    NOTES

  54.    1. CH_K.PFB and CH_K.GSF are public domain software and copyrighted by
  55.       SPRING System. That is to say, you are free to downlaod their contents
  56.       from the network, copy and distribute them. You can also apply them for
  57.       any non-commercial use. But you may not, without previous consent from
  58.       SPRING System, to include their contents in any commerical product or
  59.       commercial demo programs, electronic device or otherwise.

  61.    2. The format of the outline fonts is based on Postscript Level 2.0 and
  62.       Adobe Type 1 Font Format. We understand that Adobe has put in some new
  63.       commands in their latest versions to make the printing of oriental
  64.       charaters easier, these commands by themselves are nevertheless far
  65.       from sufficient to produce high-quality Chinese characters in print.
  66.       This makes it impossible for us to include all our design parameters
  67.       in the font in question. We also haven't included the Stem Hints
  68.       commands here, since the font provided is meant for large characters
  69.       only. Users should choose a size above 16 pt (180 dpi) or 14 pt
  70.       (300 dpi).

  75.    -- SPRING SYSTEM, Germany and OMNIGENA Co, Taiwan, a joint venture for
  76.       Chinese software development, are now designing a series of
  77.       intelligent Chinese software suitable not only for native speakers
  78.       or users of Chinese, but even for beginner learners of the language.

  80.    -- Our SPRING TEXTSYSTEM 2.3 (available since Dec 1990) is a Chinese word
  81.       processor that is based on keyboard sound input, and you only need to
  82.       type in the accurate sound, in Pinyin or Zhuyin of Chinese compounds
  83.       (less the tones) to have the characters generated by the system.

  87.       highest quality fonts available on the market. Our complete set
  88.       of fonts include both the Jiantizi ('modern', 'simplified', or 'short'
  89.       characters used in mainland China and Singapore) and Fantizi
  90.       ('classical', 'full', or 'long' characters used in Taiwan and
  91.       Hong Kong).

  119.               The main features of SPRING Textsystem 2.3

  122.     -  SPRING 2.3 runs on the IBM AT and compatibles with VGA card.
  123.     -  Simple Input and easy correction of Chinese characters.
  124.     -  Cizu Input with main and personal dictionaries. The main dictionary
  125.        contains over 86,000 Chinese multicharacter terms (up to seven
  126.        syllables) and a very fast search function which is also valid for
  127.        multisyllabic Pinyin or Zhuyin terms. The personal dictionaries can
  128.        be extended and changed online. The main dictionary can be extended
  129.        (up to 200,000) and edited with the aid of a separately priced
  130.        Dictionary-editor.
  131.     -  Problem-free loading, storing and printing of all printable ASCII
  132.        characters (including German umlauts, French accents and Cyrillic
