  33. Many listserv lists exist on the Internet.  A central computer maintains 
  34. the list of subscribers to a particular list, and when you mail to this 
  35. computer (running the listserv program), listserv mails your message to 
  36. the subscribers.  In this way, membership lists only need to be 
  37. maintained in one location.
  38.  
  39. Many different kinds of list-management software packages exist, 
  40. including the original BITNET LISTSERV software, ListProcessor by 
  41. Anastasios Kotsikonas, Majordomo by Brent Chapman, PMDF Mailserv, and 
  42. Mailbase (used in the UK).  It is not always possible to tell which 
  43. list-management software package is running which list, because, e.g., 
  44. some ListProcessor-managed lists use the e-mail address of "listproc," 
  45. others "listserver," and still others "listserv."  Your best bet is to 
  46. send the word "help" in the body of your message when you subscribe to a 
  47. list shown below.
  48.  
  49. The following listserv lists are of a legal nature.  All e-mail 
  50. addresses are given in Internet form, and most BITNET addresses are 
  51. provided for BITNET listserv lists.  For these lists, you do not need to 
  52. send a message to both of the e-mail addresses.  Use the Internet e-mail 
  53. address if you are on the Internet, and use the BITNET e-mail address if 
  54. you are on BITNET.  Note that some of these lists are based outside of 
  55. the US, and, as such, they concentrate on the law of the host country.  
  56. For example, the lists ending in ".uk" are based in the United Kingdom.  
  57. See Section A.7 for a complete listing of the two-letter country codes.

  61. following the "Subscribe to:" prompt.  The text following the "Text of

  1270. The Law and Politics Book Review is posted to PSRT-L.  The Review seeks 
  1271. to comprehensively review books of interest to political scientists 
  1272. studying law, the courts, and the judicial process.  Reviews are 
  1273. commissioned by the editor and are published within a week of receipt.  
  1274. However, the Review is organized into 12 monthly issues for each annual 
  1275. volume.  The first issue was March, 1991.  The Review tries to review 
  1276. books within six months of their publication.  Length of reviews varies 
  1277. from 750 to 2500 words.
