As April 15 -- our national day of financial
"wreckoning" -- once again creeps up on us, do you
find yourself surrounded by scraps of paper and
financial anxiety? If so, it's time to turn your
trusty Macintosh into a powerful tool for
record-keeping order and financial profit.
Below are samples of some of the useful finance-
and business-related files you can download from
the Macintosh RoundTable Library. Searching the
Library using keywords such as TAX, FINANCE, MONEY,
and BUSINESS, will reveal yet more useful files to
meet general and specialized needs alike. Some of
the files cataloged here are stand-alone
applications, while others are templates for
commercial programs such as Excel, ClarisWorks, and
FileMaker.
Personal Finance
Many of the most useful finance-related files come
from GEnie user H.LECTOR. He describes MONEYTRACK
1.0 (file #27991) by saying: "Tax time is made easy
with MoneyTracker. It's so simple (none of that
asset/liability stuff that the major programs place
you through). MoneyTracker tracks each expense by
category (medical, unreimbursed business,
auto/home, utilities, personal, spouse personal,
and others) and, at the end of each year or other
set time period you simply hit the button marked
"summary" and BAM, out comes the report by
category. Your accountant will love you. This is a
limited access version requiring a nominal fee for
encoded full access." This one requires FileMaker.
ClarisWorks owners should definitely take a look at
the two-file set in #29600 FINANCE.01.SIT and
#29690 FINANCE.02.SIT. These collections include a
variety of templates for checking, insurance
analysis, net worth, capital gains, personal
property management, education funding, and much
more.
Comprehensive Package
The FileMaker Pro applications collected in CORIE!
2.0V8.SIT provide a comprehensive solution to
managing personal and business records. These
interconnected programs work together to help you
access, exchange, and locate information quickly,
easily, and automatically.
These applications include help, hardware/software
record keeping, contacts, correspondence, image
database, home and business inventory, note taking,
scheduling, area codes, and video library
management.
You will also find valuable discussions of personal
finance and business management programs in
Categories 2 and 12 of the Macintosh RoundTable
Bulletin Board. For example, Category 2, Topic 13,
"Small Business Software," provides lively
discussions (and sometimes pungent comparisons) of
various small business accounting programs and
databases from people who literally have their
businesses on the line with a Macintosh.
Stop by the Macintosh RoundTable soon! Just type
MAC at any GEnie page prompt.
