Yeeee-Haw! If you're reading LiveWire's Multimedia
edition you'll realize I'm celebrating the
western-style theme in this issue. I hope you'll
agree that LiveWire's artists Bruce Robison and
Walt Meyers have out-done themselves again, and
Howard Wooten's toe-tapping rendition of "Wild
Wood" is a classic in more ways than one, but
LiveWire's not all snap and sizzle. You'll learn
Spring spiff-up tips and discover helpful files to
download among these articles, whether you're
bouncing in your seat or dodging that ornery
six-gun totin' cowboy.
LiveWire File Finder
Speaking of downloading, this is our first issue to
offer the LiveWire File Finder, a listing included
with the Multimedia versions in a separate text
file named 9405LWFF.TXT. If you have the Multimedia
edition, that file is located in the directory on
your system where you stored this issue. The File
Finder is built into the text editions; check the
Contents page to locate it.
Use the File Finder as a memory jogger to help
recall files mentioned in this issue that you want
to add to your personal collection. You can even
put the File Finder on paper if you have a printer,
and make notes on it as you go through the issue.
As its name indicates, you'll find all the
information you need to find a file online in the
File Finder: the name of the LiveWire article in
which it was mentioned, the keyword for the
RoundTable Library in it's stored in (for direct
online navigation), the number and name of every
file mentioned in this issue, and occasional
remarks about pertinent details. Just be sure you
read a file's long description online to be certain
your system has the required elements for
everything you download.
Let me know if you find the File Finder helpful (or
see ways to improve it) by sending GE Mail to
LIVEWIRE. I'm always happy to hear from you!
GEnie Faire Returns
Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 14th, from
8:00 to 11:00 PM Eastern time for the second annual
GEnie Faire! This special Saturday evening live
event will take place in the National Real-Time
Conference on GEnie Page 500, where it will be FREE
of standard connect charges.
Going to the GEnie Faire will give you a chance to
explore the diversity of products and variety of
RoundTables and events available on GEnie on a
regular basis. GEnie sysops are building their
booths now and preparing their shows just for you!
What's the GEnie Faire like? Well, picture a county
fair -- or maybe a fair held at your school. There
are booths around every corner and lots of
different activities, vendors, and displays.
That's what the GEnie Faire is like, except it's
online. The National RTC will have dozens of
"booths" (rooms in GEnie conference lingo) with
special conferences, games, guests, and fun
activities. You might meet a published author in
one booth, get cooking lessons in another, learn
about Federation II's player-planets, or even get
tips on riding a motorcycle.
Whatever your interest -- from Astrology to Zymurgy
-- the GEnie Faire is sure to have a booth that
you'll find fascinating. Watch the GEnie
Announcements for details as we get closer to May
14th.
GEnie offers more multi-player games than anywhere
in the known galaxy, and next month LiveWire will
feature those games and tell you about two new ones
scheduled to go "live" very soon. We'll also have
the scoop on GEnie's new NBC Online RoundTable
where you'll be able to get pre-broadcast
information and find out more about your favorite
NBC television shows.
GEnie: The most fun you can have with your computer
on!
Seeya online!
