Changes since the first release:
* 256-color mode
* surface-types (simple, shaded, pseudo-metallic and pseudo-transparent)
* no longer uses Turbo Graphics library or .BGI files
* support for segmented figures with movement
This package consists of:
read.me -- the file you are now reading
demo2.exe -- the demo program itself
demo2.doc -- documentation on using the demo
plg.doc -- documentation on the .plg file format
figure.doc -- documentation on figure files
colors.doc -- documentation on assigning of colors
logo.pcx -- a logo that can be used by demo2.exe
body.fig -- a human figure, made up out of cubes
metalman.fig -- a human figure, using metlcube.plg instead of cube.plg
bishban.plg -- the classic "bishop and banana figure", now in color
bishban2.plg -- a second, more colorful version of the classic scene
cube.plg -- a cube (used in body.fig)
metlcube.plg -- a cube with a pseudo-metallic surface
test.plg -- a simple test file with two geometric shapes in it
mtorus.plg -- a pseudo-metallic torus
For more details, see demo2.doc.
For a snazzy demo, run "demo2" and then hit O to select Options. Toggle on
Background. Hit O again, and toggle on Logo. Then use the F key to load the
figure "metalman.fig". Once it loads, click on its pelvis with the mouse,
hit Z then T and move the mouse.
To make it even snazzier, click on the object to lock it in place, then
hit O then R to turn on the Reflecting Pool. Now click on the pelvis again
and use Z T to again make the figure twirl. You can move the mouse forward
and back while the right mouse button is down to add twirl around the third
axis.
When you're done, click with the left mouse button and hit Q to Quit.
Planned for the future:
- Some form of collision detection
- A scanline-based renderer, to eliminate visibility errors
- Converters between OFF and PLG formats
- Additional animation support
