- Four sculptural groups created by sculptor
- P.K.Klodt were installed on Anichkov bridge in
- 1841-1850. These compositions depict a young
- man subduing a wild horse, which symbolizes
- struggle between man and forces of nature.
- The sculpture "Taming of Hourses" is
- characterized by extraordinary dynamics and
- amazing plastic forms. Anichkov bridge with its
- bronze sculptures is an integral part of Nevsky
- Avenue ensemble. "Taming of Hourses"
- became widely known and was re-created
- several times. Thus two sculptural groups were
- presented to the Prussian King by Nikolay I, and
- were placed at the main gates in the royal
- palace in Berlin. (Later on they were moved to
- Kleist-park). Two more sculptural groups were
- given as a gift to Secilian king and placed in
- Naples, by the grille of the Naples royal palace.
- Copies of the sculptural groups were placed by
- Belvedere not far from Petrodvorets and in
- Strelna.
