Saltykova-Shchedrina Street, 8
1775-79. Architect Yu. Velten.
Now the Spartak cinema-house.
Most expressive is the northern fasade facing
the Fuhrstadtskaya Street, which was originally
the main one. It is decorated with lonic columns
arranged in a loose semicircle. The building is
topped with a spherical dome on a circular drum
decorated with paired columns. By its
composition and architectural forms the Church
of St. Anne is close to the |Armenian church|Custom1|O:39| in
|Nevsky Prospekt|Custom1|O:267| and the |Lutheran Church of St.|Custom1|O:87|
|Catherine|Custom1|O:87| in Bolshoi Prospekt of Vasilyevsky
Island. It is no wonder, because the both were
designed by Yu. Velten.
