- Nevsky Prospekt, 15
- 1768-71. Architect unknown. Rebuilt in 1858 by
- N.Grebenka
-
- The house was built on the site of the Palace of
- Empress Yelizaveta Petrovna. This palace-type
- building is very important architecturally, as its
- fasades face three streets. The two-tier
- colonnades give it a solemn outlook. The
- interiors retain some fragments of the
- 18th-century decoration.The house is historically
- linked with many developments in the cultural life
- of the city. In 1780-83 the architect G.Quarenghi
- lived here. In the late 18th century there was
- housed the first musical club in Petersburg. In
- the early 19th century on the ground floor there
- was a well-known restaurant, which Pushkin
- used to frequent.
