  4. First wooden circuses appeared in Russia in the 
  5. early 19th century. The first stationary stone 
  6. circus was built in 1877 on the initiative of 
  7. G.Cineselli, who was the head of the circus 
  8. family on tour in Petersburg. The architect took 
  9. into consideration a specific nature of a circus 
  10. performance; it had a spherical cupola and a 
  11. manege, 13m in diameter.In 1928 a unique 
  12. Museum of the Circus Art began to function 
  13. here, the number of the exhibits being more than 
  14. 30 thousand.
