  6. The large territory that is now occupied by a 
  7. department store, had in the 18th century 
  8. belonged to A.Volynsky, one of the leading public 
  9. figures of Peter's period. He was accused of 
  10. participating in a conspiracy and executed in 
  11. 1740. A lane connecting the Bolshaya 
  12. Koniushennaya street with the Moika 
  13. Embankment was named after Volynsky. In 1907 
  14. the Guards Economic Society acquired the lot, 
  15. and in 1908 the construction of the Trading
