  6. The building occupies a large area between 
  7. Sadovaya Street, |Nevsky Prospekt|Custom1|O:267|, and 
  8. Lomonosov Street. It is a rectangular two-story 
  9. structure with a big inner courtyard. The facades 
  10. are about one kilometer long along the 
  11. perimeter. The building consists of numerous 
  12. similar arcades.The corners are cut off and 
  13. decorated with a kind of porticoes. The main 
  14. entrance facing |Nevsky Prospekt|Custom1|O:267| is also marked 
  15. out with a portico. At the top, all along the 
  16. perimeter runs a light balustrade.The building is 
  17. strictly classical in its outline. Construction went 
  18. on for 24 years and was completed in 1785. The 
  19. building became a model for the similar type of 
  20. structures in provinces. In the late 19th century it 
  21. was redecorated to a design by A.Benois.
