Dvortsovaya Square, 2
Architect A.Briullov
The Headquarters building bounds the |Palace|Custom1|O:116|
|Square|Custom1|O:116| in the east. The site was built up as
early as the early 18th century. Here the house
belonging to the famous engineer and designer
A.Nartov was located, that was later owned by
A.Bruce. In the late 18th century Bruce's house
was taken over by the Treasury, and during the
reign of Paul I a vast building of an
exerzierhaus (manege) was put up here.
The present building is rather well-proportioned.
Its main fasade decorated with a portico with 12
lonic columns closes the perspective of the
square. Briullov managed to link the new
building with the surrounding ones and thus
complete the |ensemble of Palace Square|Custom1|O:116|.
