  4. The Headquarters building bounds the |Palace|Custom1|O:116| 
  5. |Square|Custom1|O:116| in the east. The site was built up as 
  6. early as the early 18th century. Here the house 
  7. belonging to the famous engineer and designer 
  8. A.Nartov was located, that was later owned by 
  9. A.Bruce. In the late 18th century Bruce's house 
  10. was taken over by the Treasury, and during the 
  11. reign of Paul I a vast building of an 
  12. exerzierhaus (manege) was put up here. 
  13. The present building is rather well-proportioned. 
  14. Its main fasade decorated with a portico with 12 
  15. lonic columns closes the perspective of the 
  16. square. Briullov managed to link the new 
  17. building with the surrounding ones and thus 
  18. complete the |ensemble of Palace Square|Custom1|O:116|.
