- The mansion was put up for dancer
- M.Kshesinskaya. The building is an excellent
- sample of Art-Nouveau style; it has asymmetrical
- composition, is faced with colored ceramic tiles,
- and decorated in the most picturesque way; the
- interiors are lavishly decorated too.
- Kshesinskaya's mansion saw the revolutionary
- events of 1917. It was occupied by the
- Bolsheviks, frequented by V.Lenin, it also used to
- house various communist party establishments.
- During the recent years the building has housed
- the Museum of Russian Political History.
